Yeah, Fraziers 2021 season was an outlier. Winker and hernandez were obviously intimidated by safeco, Teo really didn't have that bad a season, it was in line to what might have been expected.

Exactly. And he's having a similar season this year and it's considered a success. Mostly because he is in a role more suited his skill set.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 4:50 pmYeah, Fraziers 2021 season was an outlier. Re: Former Mariners tracker
Interesting, Teos season was pretty much in line with his zips, where's harmony when we need him lol. I agree with the assessment, Teo was a complimentary piece, he was never the mainstay we were sold by the pr department
For 2023, Dan Szymborski’s ZiPs projections are rather modest for Hernandez: .253/.308/.462, 22 2B, 29 HR, 78 runs, 86 RBI, 38 BBs, 155 Ks (2.0 WAR).
So there is at least some debate about just how much of an upgrade Hernandez could be for the Mariners.
“Teoscar Hernández is a fine short-term fill-in,” Szymborski wrote for FanGraphs, “but it feels like a top team would have him as the weakest player in the lineup.”

If you are going to shop at the margins it's pretty much what you should expect. Maybe the mariners have had some bad luck but its not because the field is cursed. There's a reason why certain players get huge contracts. It's because of the odds of them continuing to be productive.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 4:59 pmExactly. Cris Sale wanting to talk about teammates
Sale didn’t want to talk at length about what it would mean for him to return to the All-Star Game because, he said, the Braves still have a lot of baseball left before the break and he wants to focus on that. But he was eager to discuss Braves teammates including Duvall, a Red Sox teammate last year — “Across the board, you’re not going to find a more respected guy,” Sale said — and Kelenic.
“That guy’s been a sparkplug,” Sale said of Kelenic. “There’s no other way to say it. What he’s been able to do, basically as soon as he started to play every day and getting his reps, he took off. You put him in that leadoff spot and I don’t know the numbers, but I can’t imagine there’s too many guys in the leadoff spot since he started that have done better than him.”
Also, from someone known for his hyper-intensity, Sale appreciates that aspect of Kelenic’s game: “He gets fired up, and it’s very contagious throughout the lineup and even in the dugout. He gets the game going right out of the gate. It’s a lot of fun to be around.”

Yeah, it's kind of funny how these guys sometimes fall apart vs. Japanese pitching. You would think a guy like Scheiner would thrive in Japan with the lower fastball velocities and smaller parks, but obviously not. I can only speculate, but I'm guessing that the Japanese pitchers have much finer command of their secondaries vs. what you see in the PCL, and that probably makes all the difference for a hitter like Scheiner.D-train wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 12:37 pmJake Scheiner must not like Sushi. Yep and then you have Wlad who became a legend hitting 60 bombs in 2013 and 301 overall.
Had probably the best offensive season in the history of Japan.
.330/.455/.779/1.234 60 bombs 131 RBIs How could he not be at least and average hitter in MLB that season???
