Kelenic now down to a .717 OPS and a 98 OPS+. season numbers are below what he did for Seattle last year.

The dude is incredibly streaky.
March 29-April 7th (8 games) .579 AVG 1.356 OPS
April 8-May 29 (34 games) .198 AVG .550 OPS
May 30-June 29 (26 games) .319 AVG .954 OPS
June 30 -July 24 (19 games) .147 AVG .490 OPS
It isn't surprising. If you look at his statcast numbers on Savant, he's hitting the fastball really well, breaking balls sort of adequately, and offspeed pitches are killing him. So if you're a pitcher with great secondaries, you have the cheat code to get him out.

Thats the cheat code for getting most hitters out isn't it, I don't see how it explains his streakiness. I'm thinking it's within him, he has difficulty keeping his swing together

So they mysteriously forgot that that was the way to get him out in June?

He was probably getting more fastballs in the zone than he is right now.

How doesn't every team and their scouts have a book on him by now????

btw he is currently in a 3-55 slump. Almost as bad as his rookie year....

I think Ty France makes his debut today with the Reds vs. the Cubbies. He'll do well in the National league sorta like Winker. Not great but just O.K. Kinda like Kelenic. Not great but just O.K. Kinda like ALL of the players Jerry looks for....Not great but just O.K.

Statcast gives every team a book on every player. It's a game of constant adjustment, more than it's ever been. But most pitchers will still want to throw their best pitch, which is usually the fastball.

Here's a look at him from when he was hot. It's hard to believe pitchers can make an adjustment and he's suddenly going 3 for 55 or whatever

Not Great But Just OK. Isn’t that the M’s motto?
