You've been added for Round 2, I can only really do that on this occasion as no-one is over par after round 1. All your players start at zero, so if you see Aberg -4 but he's showing as -2 in your line-up that's because he was -2 when you picked him up.

Leaderboard after Round 1
1 mostonmike -12
2 baller -6
3 Sibelius Hindemith (Just4Fun) -5
4 TLO Idaho -4
5 desbcoach -3
6 Walla Walla Dawg II -3
7 rockycola -1
8 bil522 (starts round 2) E

Just4Fun mind.... they are added. AI gave me Bing Crosby, Jack Westland, Bud Ward and Bon Stein for your other 4.

Should you be able to pick every single guy in the tournament? Mike has to keep track of all this stuff. When I did it, it was only 3.
Yeah, I was thinking the limiting factor being the $100 to spend. Need a program to run it
The format we use for the Masters is the classic one: everyone picks three players, then you can make subs for the final two rounds. Simple, and it still works fine for that event.

But once a few people wanted more tournaments — all four majors and even the FedEx — subs became unmanageable. Time zones and people's engagement kill it. For example, at The Open, Round 3 starts around 3am PDT. Who’s waking up to make changes? And if people don’t bother, the whole thing breaks down.

So I switched to a format that’s easier to run : pick 5, best 3 scores count. The problem was that people often had only 2 players make the cut, which kills the competition. Bumping it to 6 players turned out to be the sweet spot — most people still have 3 active on the weekend.

For the protagonists, it’s simple: pick your team a few days before the event, forget about it, and just watch. And of course it’s easier for me when it comes to scoring. I must be allowed a little discretion to make my own life easier, surely? Someone has to add all this up, after all.

The real issue is golf itself: you can score over par so we can't have teams with more players than others. If you don’t have a player on the course, you can actually move up the leaderboard because zero is a great score on some setups. You can actually benefit by having all your players eliminated in the first two days. Especially on tricky low scoring courses like Augusta and both Opens.
OK, thanks...just from a cursory look I was curious about the relationship between picking say two $50 players on one hand or 100 $1 players on the other. The odds of a long shot winning would play into that. Trying to set those odds would seem interesting but on top of that was the six player limit. But yeah, there's a lot more to it

Do you have any issues with thinking in both dollars and pounds? I've been here like 20 years but I feel I still kinda struggle with it terms of pesos and dollars

Maybe I'm stretching it but ever since 2001 I've spent the majority of my time here. I was coming back then for working seasons

It's probably the single biggest thing in my life where I can look back and set a beginning. I was on Negros island for 911, Like everyone I have this vivid memory but mine is so detached being where I was. What's interesting is it seems like I had been here for months but it had only been a couple of weeks. That aspect is very strange for me now

I was in Bangkok Thailand when challenger exploded. All I could discern was from a picture on a newspaper in a news stand I saw on the street. Other than that I was completely cut off from events, no internet no television, no nothing. Funny, I really didn't miss it. None of it really affected my life. How much time do we spend on things that really don't effect our lives

Politics comes to mind. I have paid almost zero attention to politics since the election like most people. No matter how much you obsess on it nothing will change anything.

Juliooo seems to have got sick of dealing with our resident pro golfer Seattle or Bust so has left the forum for good. Sad and pathetic what this place has become.
Lol.

Yet I get attacked every which way all the time and I’m still here.

Not my fault the guy didn’t like getting called out for having constant, raging wood for the human head case.
You get attacked on the sports forums? Nobody should get attacked of the Sports forums. I can't even remember the head case you are talking about.

btw did you see RRS post on guys yucking it up on first base after he gave up a single?
Not as much anymore. But even so, I could say something completely neutral on the politics forum and a few posters would find a way to call me "she/he/it"... accuse me of TDS... what have you. If I see something I think is BS, I'll call it out. But being kind there gets you nowhere b/c no matter how you post you still get the same vitriolic response. So I'm vitriolic back and I don't apologize for it.

The thing with Juliooo is I would post something about Julio that he didn't like. Giggling... lack of effort... whatever... and Juliooo just couldn't handle it. He would respond quite angerly and it would often devolve into a back and forth. I almost never responded to a post of his unless he egregiously went after a player he didn't like that I felt didn't deserve the attention and I'd let him know... "apply that same energy to your savior."

I try my best to give a fair, nuanced take to the whole roster. And that includes holding players with a higher responsibility to winning... more responsible. I can't help that he could never criticize Julio and it gets annoying reading a continually biased narrative about the team.

And again, the criticism is never a snipe at the player. It's understanding that if this player doesn't perform to the level he's being expected, the team is going to lose. For Julio... that standard is a lot higher than it is for like Dylan Moore... so if Julio goes 0-5 with 3 K's in a game and Moore goes 0-5 with 3 K's in the same game... there should be no earthly way the focus is on Moore... and Juliooo would often do that... completely ignoring what JRod had done in the game.

When (if) Julio taps into being this 8 WAR, .300/.400/.550+ player I'll be the first to say, "good for him, he's matured, he's grown, and I'm glad."

When I went to bed last night, I was in dead last place.
Ludvig Åberg with two eagles and 3 birdies on the front 9 so far today.
What a difference a day makes.
Through 36, Xander Schauffele tops the leaderboard...he was shunned, ignored, unwanted...and unchosen... Damn, I was close to writing his name on my dance card, but didn't.

Go-o-o-o-o-o LUDVIG!!! Damn, shorty bil. Why'd you also pick my guy? :P
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!
