Yeah, stick with Dipoto and make it to the playoffs in ten years or churn through couple more GMs in those ten years to do it. Personally I'm content with sticking with him. I think it's about getting a system installed and I think they have a pretty good one. I'm really not concerned about debating what he did seven or eight years ago. They could have canned him then but they didn't. It's the franchise as it stands now that interests me.
You are content, and so all the thousands upon thousands that continue to spend money. That is a big reason why making the playoffs twice in ten years is OK. A big reason they were able to have the largest playoff draught in North American sports, and still turn a profit. You are not alone, but I'm not sure you are in good company either.
Sorry but I am pretty happy with things currently. I can't deny that

I have always said that Mariner fans love pain, they can get root canals without anesthetic. Mariner fans have experience some of the most brutal losing scenarios and/or seasons in history. But finally the M's seem to have an organization that has more professionalism than at anytime in history, plus we have long rooted baseball guys involved..... I like seeing Edgar, Dan, Griffrey, Buhner, Ichiro, and a bunch others involved.... I think the Cubs are the most beloved franchise in baseball and they went nearly a century without a World Series .....I don't know, can't say I am content.... but I like the situation we are in, it's been an evolvement.... we are better off than the days of Jack Z., maybe not as good yet as the M's of Pat Gillick and `lou Pinella, but we have more depth, more baseball folks around. We have hope....

I’m a little confused as to why he’s currently in Tacoma if they think so highly of him.

JP is hurt. If Emerson is the SS of the future get his ass up here.

The team control issue not longer exists so that is a great point. Maybe they are too busy working on a Leo Rivas extension.

There are two sides to a coin.

Maybe think about it from the kid's perspective also.
If a prospect’s career ends they may receive a settlement but it is far less than the full value of a guaranteed MLB contract.

He has to at least exceed Crawford's numbers doesn't he?
Right now Crawford is the worst defensive short stop in the league.

Young will leave us around 29 years old when old father time comes a knockin.
But he'll still be in his prime and can test free agency.

Sounds like a bargain for both sides with a lot of upside.
But risky i.e. the White deal.

And...bonus...we can finally see the exit sign for Crawford. Thank you for your service.

Or hell....maybe Emerson will be the real deal and you don't have to move Young over.

Guys. I watched that Yankee game last night and for the first time felt like the Spanks were the underdog.
We haven't even touched our potential yet as a young team. It's already booked. 50 year anniversary = World Series appearance.

That was my first thought, where is he? Let's have a look. I have to believe he's up pretty soon isn't he? Should we take guesses? What's that do to the roster?

And in other news
The Major League Baseball Players Association is carrying a war chest more than two times larger than it did at the same point ahead of collective bargaining with Major League Baseball in 2021 as it prepares for the possibility of an extended lockout when the collective bargaining agreement expires on Dec. 1.

The union accumulated $415 million in U.S. Treasury securities, cash and other investments by the end of 2025, according to its LM-2 filing with the U.S. Department of Labor, a figure that dwarfs the union's $171 million coming off a COVID-shortened season in 2020 and heading into the previous round of CBA negotiations.

It's true they already had him under control for six years but you get into arbitration and those last three years can get very expensive, IE the tigers and Tarik Skubal. If he develops into a star they are spending a lot more than $12 MIL four years from now. There's also a nine year team option. If he develops the way they hope it will be a deal
No they are really not.

Trea Turner was about as good of a SS as there is. Speed, power, average, D, etc. He earned 46M for his controlled years 2015 through until 2023. Even if you pop on 10% salary escalation that is still 51M for 6+ years. Those fucking idiots only win if Colt is the best player in baseball. Literally Bobby Witt Jr. That is a bet that any fucking casino takes and laughs at.

That dude has good tools but he is not going to be a super star at that level. He has 50 speed which is average. They D and arm rate to slightly above average at 55. His best tool is hit which is a 65. But he is the 7th rated SS on the list. He should be able to stick at SS but he doesn’t have Trea Turner or Bobby Witt Jr written across his profile. He doesn’t have the speed or the D to match those two. His ceiling is basically as good JP the year he had 5.2 WAR a 130s OPS+ and 19 HR. I think Colt develops a little more power than JP and he looks like he could steal 20 bags a year. Colt does not need to be up this year. This was not a smart move. It hurts.
