BTW, OPS:

1997 - .839
2001 - .805
I just remember how the 1997 team could resemble sharks at a feeding frenzy and just totally UNFUCKINGLOAD with game changing rallys whenever it looked like all had been lost. Look at Joey Cora with 55 extra base hits..!
I hated letting Jose Cruz go..I can't remember who we got to replace him, but I'll never forget how great he was for us.
I believe he went to Toronto in the Timlin/Spoljaric trade.

C. Dan Wilson
1B. John Olerud
2B. Bret Boone
3B. Edgar Martinez (it's my team, screw defense! LOL)
SS. A Rod
LF. Raul Ibanez
CF. The Kid
RF. Ichiro
DH. Cruz

1) Ichiro
2) Boone. (almost want to keep Harold Reynolds or Joey Cora just to have another bat at the top of the order)
3) Griffey Jr
4) Edgar
5) A Rod
6) Cruz
7) Olerud
8) Ibanez
9) Wilson

I actually think in the long run I might have moved Olerud to 2 and Boone to 7, but hard to say.

1. Felix
2. RJ
3. Freddie Garcia
4. Jaime Moyer
5. Jeff Fasero

Probably need Langston instead of Fasero....but Mark wasn't really as big a part of our history, IMO.

RP. Arthur Rhodes
RP. Jeff Nelson
RP. Norm Charlton
RP. Bill Cuadill
RP. Kaz
CP. Edwin Diaz

If that is too many Relief Pitchers than take out Caudill. But I had to give some love to the early days. Diaz over Kaz was tough, but come on...the dude was un-hittable while here.

C - Wilson (defense matters)
1B - Olerud (See C)
2B - Boone (hard call - could argue that Cano deserves this. I probably went with my heart here)
3B - Seager (Beltre post-M's doesn't count IMO, tho he was underrated here)
SS - ARod
LF - Ibanez (Buhner wasn't TRULY in LF)
CF - Griffey Jr
RF - Ichiro!
DH - Gar (You were expecting, maybe, WFB?)

Bench: Mike Cameron, Kenji Johjima, Robinson Cano (hi, Buhner - so close!), Franklin Gutierrez, Harold Reynolds (oh, but it almost went to McLemore...). Yeah, actually trying to win a game here.

Edgar was a good 3B! So all good. Man I would put our lineup against any all time team in baseball.

I didn't mind JJ, he was just pretty short lived. Someone pointed out earlier, I think, that he lost his splitter and then was done.

Yeah DT, putting together a team of Mariners just from my lifetime, against other teams in the same span, I'd like our chances. So discouraging that it was just a few trips to the ALCS that we have to show for it.

I thought 1995 was just going to be the beginning. And it wasn't a bad run, but if you would have asked me after we lost to the Yankees in 2001 what I thought my odds of missing the playoffs for the next 18 years would be I would have said less than 1%!

Theyre playing the 2001 Allstar game on the radio right now. Brett Boone had 83 RBI at the break. Las year Vogelbach led the Ms with 76 RBI for the entire season.
