I’m proud to say I appear to be the only one in the park wearing a Greg Pirkl jersey.
Somebody should open a shop called "Mediocre Mariners" and sell jerseys like that for players like Skip Jutze, Bud Bulling, Dick Pole, Paul Spoljaric, Johnny Moses, Joe Simpson, etc.
I remember Paul Spoljaric for some reason.
Timlin and Spoljaric for young Jose Cruz

I thought Cruz was finally going to give the M's a solid 3rd outfielder to pair with Jay and Jr. He did go on to build 19.5 WAR and had a 30 HR, 30 SB season.

Why does Matt Festa keep getting chances?

There have to be 100 guys in the M's organization who throw 93-94 from the right side with more command than this clown.
That dude is a clown. Gave the Cardinals both inherited runs and added 2 more of his own for Gearin. His ERA for the outing could be 0.00 if Gearin saves him. If not, it will be infinite. Clearly, he sucked no matter what the other guy does.

I have always liked Altavilla. He has the stuff to be as lights out as anybody in short stints. 100 MPH with a wipeout slider.

Should be first and second right now with no outs, can't believe Beckham struck out on a terribly thrown slider.

My Reverse Kiss of Death, I just panned Fowler in a prior thread!
Please post that Vogey sucks and will strike out.
Too late, what a shock, Miller whiffed two lefties in a row, A-Mazin, Eh?

Servais and management hate him. He walked a couple guys in Japan at the start of the season and they sent him to AA lol... yet morons like Swarzak, Vincent, Nicasio, Cook, Scrabble, Festa they love.

Altavilla had a 2.61 ERA last year in 20 innings but had a short leash. Pretty amazing.

Also... why in tf did we DFA Rosscup? Yeah he struggled with the strike zone a bit but he was our only lefty specialist. How stupid.

Another loss in a close game. Tell you what, I'll take this offense next year and we just need to find a way to bolster the pitching, that's been the difference between victory and defeat in these close ones.

And Altavilla's 2.61 ERA didn't mean much. Look at Festa today, pitched like crap and zero effect to his ERA. Altavilla has been a train wreck until today.

And Rosscup was horrible.

Altavilla had 25 K's and 3 BB's pitching in 16 innings in AA... He had a mind boggling .612 WHIP. It's all about control for him and I think they prematurely sent him down after one bad outing in Japan... Hopefully his command issues at the MLB level were just nerves and are over. Because he's got the stuff to be dominant.

Rosscup is better that a lot of guys we've been trotting out there. While I know ERA isn't the main indicator of performance... it's certainly a decent one. All I know is his 3.21 ERA looks a hell of a lot better than Biddle's who they DFA'd after trading for him... and certainly better than Elias of late from the left side.

Our bullpen has quality arms... Altavilla, Adams, Bass, Sadzeck, Brennan, Strickland, Elias are some quality, power arms that if they ever learn to collectively pull their heads out of their asses... man. Every one of these guys can hit 96... some 96-100... they just always seem to have one pitch they'd like to get back.
