With that trade for 2 years of JRam who isn't exactly cheap for the Indians you get a 3B place holder in Toro, the future franchise 3B in Marte and a SP who was a first round top 10 pick 15 months ago. No brainer for them.
He will get 12 million and 14 million for the next two seasons how is that not cheap for a 6.7 WAR player?
I think your delusional and if you make that offer you get laughed out of the building.
Ridiculous.

They traded Francisco Lindor (who put up 12+ WAR in 2018 and 2019) for only 1 top-100 prospect - no. 64 Andres Giminez, a graduated, JP Crawford type player in Amed Rosario, a nobody 18-year-old reliever in Josh Wolf, and a nobody 19-year-old OF in Isaiah Greene.

Marte and Hancock + Toro would be LEAGUES above that trade. 1 extra year doesn't change that.

I'm going to allow you guys to throw things back and forth about who we should get, trades, and FA signings. All I'm going to hope for is a TOR pitcher and a better than average 3B with a little power. I see Torrens as our DH if you consider he did "OK" in his first year. And considering Raleigh should improve as well, I could live with Murphy. I just hope that we don't anoint White as our 1B and move France to 3B. That would be the solution for the M's of the past. I'm hoping for more from this organization going forward but I'll wait and see. My hopes are not all that high.

yeah, a team making a trade like that is going to want at least a possible replacement in return, they are not going to be looking at some sort of collection of players, the centerpiece needs to be a future replacement, its going to be Jrod to get talks going
Lol JRam is a 3B. Marte is projected to be a 3B. JRod is an OFer.
I am pretty sure he meant a replacement as far as a face of the franchise player
Face of the Franchise? So the three Cleveland Icons: LeBron James, Baker Mayfield and Jose Ramirez. lol

There is no way that Marte, Hancock and Toro brings back Ramirez. Your talking about a guy with an .825 OPS in A ball, A pitcher who threw about 10 innings before he had to be shut down with arm issues and a poor fielding infielder with a .657 career OPS over 3 partial seasons in the Bigs. Any conversation that doesn't involve J-Rod will get you no where in a Ramirez trade.
Marte is the no. 11 prospect in all of baseball at age 19, Hancock is no. 34 and had a great first pro year. That package would easily be enough - especially considering JRam carries a $26 million price tag. It's not like we're trading for some dude who still has 6 years of control.
He averaged 3-2/3 innings per start and got shut down after just 44 innings. That is not a great year.
Yeah dude totally -

So you've got it right and all the scouts have it wrong.

You have some wild takes. The scouting world jumped Marte from fringe top-100 to the top 10 and you're not high on him

Seriously? Lindor only had 1 year remaining for $22.3 Million and was coming off a year with a .750 OPS. His War for 2020 if projected out to 162 games would have been 3.5. Ramirez has 2 years remaining for $26 million and has a .893 OPS with a 6.7 WAR. Ramirez is twice the player at half the cost for twice as long . He will return waaaaay more than Lindor did in a trade.

I never said I wasn't high on Marte and what does that have to do with whether or not Hancock had a great year?

Ramirez has 34.3 Career WAR for the Indians and has been in the top 3 in MVP voting 3 times. The only Indians in the last 50 years with more WAR than Ramirez are Jim Thome and Kenny Lofton. IF we had a player like him here in Seattle we would be putting up statues and naming Streets after him.
