Hernadez is only worth $25M vs. $72M for JRam on the TV site.

The Indians balked at a Teoscar Hernandez package. N. Marte and E. Hancock wouldn't even get us to the negotiating table for Jose Ramirez. If I'm the Guardiams, I'm asking for Julio or Kirby or both to get things started.
I think they just weren't interested in trading him, and trading him for another veteran player, even a good one, probably seemed like more of a lateral move than an upgrade.
That and the Indians were still in the playoff hunt at the trade deadline.

It's like I said, a JRam trade for the Indians would indicate a small rebuild is coming. The trade would solely be about adding top, young controlled players - Marte, Hancock etc.

Also Teoscar Hernandez will make $10 million in 2022, will make more than JRam in 2023 and is a free agent in 2024. Trading for him would put them in the exact same position they're currently in with JRam - which would make 0 sense.

Odd splits:

Kelenic had a .267 OPS on ground balls. He had a .920 OPS on fly balls. He had a 1.651 OPS on line drives.

Ty France conversely had a .677 OPS on ground balls and a 170 OPS + on such hits. Kelenic had just a 7 OPS+ on grounders. That's a pretty wild disparity. Amazing Kelenic could so rarely find a hole or 2 on a grounder. Although I suppose that's meant to happen when you're shifted against.

Send JK to school with JP to learn to hit the other way?

Seems to me that's the next opportunity for taking advantage of the current group think in baseball.

Of course it's really the old way of thinking "hit to all fields" or "hit it where they ain't".

Trade for JRam, sign Simeon and an Ace. Toro to utility. Take our chances on catching and outfield. If there's any financial room left look at Schwarber and a left handed reliever.

Crawford
Hanniger
France
JRam
Simeon
Scwarber/Torrens
Kelenic
Lewis
Cal/Murph
Toro/Fraley, Dealers' Choice
Ace, Flexen, Marco, The "Kid", (Dealers choice)
The Pen + left handed specialist

Damn! I like this one too Dawg.
Good stuff.
My wishlist favorite is Correa but talk about mortgaging your house, the kids, and and the grandkids houses.
This makes a whole lot of sense....which is why it probably won't happen.

Teoscar is a free agent the same year as Jose Ram. I don't really think Cleveland thinks they need to be sellers. They have two aces and an MVP 3rB. They could upgrade a few areas in the line-up and dramatically improve on that .500 record 80-82
Cal Quantril 152 ERA+ 22 starts
Beiber 139 ERA+ CY
Civale 114 ERA+

MVP J Ram 141 OPS+
Franmil Reyes 127 OPS+
Replace Eddie Rosario 84 OPS+ lF with
The catchers were both down around 50 OPS+
