Yeah, how did that work out? 1 for 12 in the playoffs, that's how. They are going to have to start inventing new excuses for him if they want him on the roster again next season.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 12:31 pmDon't think they are looking at slash line numbers as indicating an improvement
.Kelenic does enter the postseason with only one hit in his past 23 at-bats, and he was hit by a pitch in the chest Tuesday. He’s been a little unlucky, Dipoto intimated.
But the batted-ball data suggests Kelenic is on the right track, and he’ll get his chances this postseason to continue to prove that.
“His raw results have not been close to how good his process has been,” Dipoto said. “… Now we see it coming together in a very different way than it had been before. He could go out and have a dynamic postseason and then use it as a springboard toward becoming the big-league player that he was always going to be. Or he could just continue to adhere to a good process and excite us just as much, because this guy just turned 23 years old. There’s so much baseball in front of him, and again I can’t express how proud I am of him.”

Did you read that correctly? Dipoto wasn't predicting a dynamic post season, he said it wouldn't matter. That's their reason for having him on the roster next season

Re: My Off Season Plan
So they are using the post season to develop a guy that never has nor likely never will hit big league pitching. Brilliant. And they are still excited about him. LMAO Can't make it up.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 1:06 pmDid you read that correctly? Dipoto wasn't predicting a dynamic post season, he said it wouldn't matter. Lol, what a joke. He's not your kid Jerry. Nor has he done a good job. Shows how fragile Kelenics ego is that Dipoto knows he needs to stroke it.
Again with these bozos valuing process over results. At some point they need to prioritize results over process so they stop wasting time on guys like Ben Gamel, Mallex Smith, Braden Bishop, Jake Fraley and Jarred Kelenic and skip to players that put up actual results.

Silver tongue Jerry just can't find the words to express how "Proud" he is of him. Whoa! Cue the twilight zone music.bpj wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 4:00 pmProud of him?Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 12:31 pmDon't think they are looking at slash line numbers as indicating an improvement

JK profiles well as a 4th outfielder. In that role, he's as good and probably better than most in the league. Even as a third outfielder, in this era, he's not that bad. Look at the rosters around the league and the level of talent teams are throwing out there. This is one reason I'm changing my tune on Haniger. I feel like they almost have to sign him. Behind Judge, he's arguably the next best power hitting outfielder on the market.

Stats for Ben Gamel, Braden Bishop, Mallex Smith, Jake Fraley, and Jarred Kelenic-
