As I understand it, the v oters place up to 10 names on their ballots, and they are choosing among a group of 20 or more each year. Presumably all of them meet some minimum criteria to even be on the ballot, but even among the guys that were short listed, not all of them will get in
That's it. Voters have to prioritize. It's like with Edgar, his total went up as his elimination drew near. Voters
began to focus on him and his total increased. I was going to say, I don't believe Darren would agree with Ichiro being unanimous, or maybe even first ballot. If he was unanimous it speak to how really popular he is around the league. Of course that go without saying. Riviera did it by being popular, junior came close by being extremely popular. It take hof baseball skills and a personality that people are attracted to.

I remember the good ol days when we debated if he was even Hof worthy
Its pretty simple. If you say a guy should be in the HOF, you are saying YOU think he should be in the HOF. If you say you think it should be unanimous you are saying that everyone else should agree with you are they are idiots.

Ichiro should be in the HOF but it isn't some big issue if it isn't unanimous or even 1st ballot. There have been bigger snubs and the world continues to exist...

Meh. They're not idiots. But if they were right, then I'd agree with them. :D

One unanimous HOF vote has happened in the history of Cooperstown. It's either a statistical fluke, or there was something magical about Mariano. If it's the latter, I'm curious about the recipe. That's all.

I have Edmonds in the OF. 60.4 WAR no roids.

Ichiro 60.0
Sosa 58.6 With Roids
Bonds POS human AND massive Roids
Lofton should have made it with 68 WAR
If you put the steroid guys in a separate category, The biggest Snub is Curt Schilling. 79.5 WAR and the only pitcher over 3000 K's not in the hall. All because of his political beliefs.
Yep, complete joke.
Same political beliefs as Riviera who managed to get in. Believe it was acting like a sob rather than political beliefs

It doesn't have to do with believing someone should be in the Hof or not. You can not vote for a guy who you believe should be. Don't tell me the voters that didn't vote for junior didn't believe he deserved to be in the Hof?

Exactly and the guys that don't vote Ichiro on the 1st ballot will have their reasons and shouldn't be told that they need to vote for him 1st ballot because he "Should" be unanimous.

Or maybe everybody votes for him. That's all it is, Ichiro should get the same treatment as Riviera. I think it's possible. Not sure I'd say it should happen.

Yeah, I would think there are some voters that view him more along the lines as his forum critics. It's interesting that it's even come up. It speaks to how popular he is

He is definitely an icon and a good and fascinating person with ZERO baggage and it is the Hall of FAME not the Hall of Stats so should be Zero doubt he belongs.

He's the least PED tainted baseball player imaginable. Which I think is part of his popularity
