They are going to pay bellinger $26 mil to play first base? Seriously? Santana is in their wheelhouse, bellinger not so much
Seems like if it included Haniger you could make it work.

Give them something a little shinier for Hoerner and Bellinger if they'll take Haniger to offset some salary.

Or even Garver.

Sounds like they wanted Castillo.

Bellinger+Hoerner seems like a decent middle point for that conversation. Those salaries offset enough also.

Never know.

I'm a little confused at Bellinger because he's basically Luke Raley, Left handed hitting OF/1B that can play all 3 OF positions but Raley hit better in 2024 and had a higher WAR (3.2 vs 2.2)

I guess it could work if they traded Randy Arozarena and put either Raley or Bellinger in LF and had the other at 1B

You can bat Bellinger against lefties. *edit* my brain is fked up right now, have the flu. He'll play 1B against lefty starters and DH/play OF on occassion.

In '23 he slashed .337/.388/.596/.984 with 10 bombs over 183 PA's.

Over his career, .778 OPS.

Can't wait to read the reaction here when Jerry drops a Burger Bomb on Seattle and calls it an off-season.

I'm not really much of a fan of Bellinger or Hoerner, but I could see Dipoto being interested.

I think it makes sense because we have three starting outfielders that are right handed- at least two of which are question marks- and we don't have a 1B or DH if we consider Raley the 4th OF/backup 1B that gets 400+ plate appearances.

Just saw Suzuki had a 138 OPS+ last season. Perfect DH. He and Nico would fill two holes.

I like the idea of acquiring Suzuki much more than Bellinger. Maybe it could be a draw for Roki Sasaki as well to have another Japanese player on the team.
