The Mariners don't do qualifying offers.tehmc wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 6:48 pmI'm going to look at it this way, we get a 1 year audition to see if he can hit in T-Mobile before we have a chance to resign him, we can also give him a Qualifying Offer and get a draft pick back.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 6:43 pmI just saw that this morning. As ever, Castillo is listed as the player being sent to Cleveland. Would we give up 3 years of Castillo for one year of Naylor? Is this what we're reduced to? It's a salary dump, and the argument goes that it frees up money to get another starter and more offense. It's not a long term solution to 1B, and it seems like classic robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Personally I like the idea of an audition to see if giving him a long term contract is a good idea instead of signing someone who we think is going to be good yet comes here and absolutely bombs as a hitter.

It is a catch 22...if he comes to Seattle and sucks, he is not worth a qualifying offer...if he comes to Seattle and hits, he will double any qualifying offer pricing out of the Seattle price range which is $11.94 before taxes maxGL_Storm wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 10:47 pmThe Mariners don't do qualifying offers.tehmc wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 6:48 pmI'm going to look at it this way, we get a 1 year audition to see if he can hit in T-Mobile before we have a chance to resign him, we can also give him a Qualifying Offer and get a draft pick back.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 6:43 pm

The Mariners would have to be 99% certain of the player not accepting the offer.Bil522 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 11:17 pmIt is a catch 22...if he comes to Seattle and sucks, he is not worth a qualifying offer...if he comes to Seattle and hits, he will double any qualifying offer pricing out of the Seattle price range which is $11.94 before taxes maxGL_Storm wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 10:47 pmThe Mariners don't do qualifying offers.tehmc wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 6:48 pm

Terms of marte... he's on like his 3rd contract now? He's signed very reasonably too. Can't assume he does that here. For me the cutoff for comparison of a trade is the contract that gets traded

A’s with another signing tonight of Gio Urshela. Jerry, if you’re there, put the cocktail down and do something

He is....currently he just got his diploma from the Deshaun Watson school of Massage Ettiquette. He will be frequenting the numerous massage establishments that have cropped up all over the greater Seattle area and his diploma will get him the first 5 mins of an inappropriate touching without being included in the lawsuit.Hasslecracked wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 3:43 amA’s with another signing tonight of Gio Urshela. Another day of nothing.

You have to. He's making another $24 mil over the next two years. I don't see him being anywhere near as bad as last season. That was a total anomaly.
