Forum members introduce yourselves
Re: Forum members introduce yourselves
I am an old guy who got hooked on the Mariners in 1995 a year after moving to the Pacific Northwest just before the 1994 strike.
While studying for an exam in 1995 I had the Mariner radio broadcasts on as background noise. I was captivated by the M's late-season surge to advance to the postseason. Edgar Martinez's dramatic game-winning double against the Yankees in Game 5 of the AL Division Series came on my 40th birthday. I have not looked back despite the M's relative lack of success since.
I grew up in the Midwest as a Minnesota Twins fan but shifted my allegiances to the Kansas City Royals and then the Colorado Rockies as I moved around as a young adult. I lived nearly six years within walking distance of Dodger Stadium but could never embrace the Blue because of their win over my Twins in the 1965 World Series. I am a sucker for underdogs.
I've posted occasionally on the Times forum but often found the atmophere too whiny. Rather than complain, I prefer to recognize a problem and constructively seek feedback on a proposed solution. Eschewing opinions, I often post facts and let the reader draw his or her own conclusion ... or not. I appreciate the specialized expertise within MLB front offices and don't pretend to have superior knowledge.
Peace be with you.

Welcome Doug. Glad you made it here. I think this place will be much more "Harmonious".

Name is Alex.
Live up in Ferndale, WA with wife and 3 kids (16 and 13 year old girls and 9 year old boy)
44 years old that grew up as a Navy Brat.
Yokosuka, Japan is oldest memory of baseball when I started playing at 9.
At 11 I played on team of 11-18 year old kids since there wasn't a large pool of kids on the Navy bases.
Got picked up by a Japanese team at 12 and played a full year off base.
Coolest experience with a totally unique culture around baseball.
Imagine drums, symbols, horns and fans up in the high 100's range.
Pitcher SS, and Outfield were my primary positions.
Moved to Washington around age 18. Seattle fan (all sports) since then.
Coach both Soccer and Baseball for 8+ years. Sadly son has no interest in baseball much. Still have time but just doesn't have the desire.
Been a lurker on forum for 5 years since I started working from home (barcode sales)
I'll try and be more active but actually enjoy the banter on both forums as I eat my lunch or take a quick break.
The kid has to me my favorite all time player but Ichiro, Gar, and RJ and even Beltre rank high.
Thanks for having me!

My name is Chuck and my purpose on this forum is to keep DT and the crew well stocked in Crown and out of trouble during their spring training visits. I grew up in the Tri-Cities in SE Washington and migrated to the UDUB in the mid-60's. I then embarked on a 37 year journey as a high school counselor and basketball coach. My wife and I retired to Surprise, AZ in 2007 and haven't looked back. Lots of golf in the sun. I never lost my Washington roots and am an avid fan.

Whoever set this up...DT...thank you!
That spam was getting old quickly.
Born in Yakima, raised in Auburn, worked in NYC for the last 25 years living in da Bronx.
BUT still a Seattle Mariners fan. Like poison in my blood or something.
STILL hoping and waiting to see our trip to the World Series at least once in my lifetime.
We finally saw the promised land with the Hawks...now it's up to the Mariners.
If they could ONLY get the right management crew to go along with the talent.
Sigh.
Offense has been a nice surprise on this squad.
But the pitching is our glaring weakness.
I believe the defense will get better as the youth are called up.
Please trade Bruce, Encarnacion, ect.
We're not ready for the Houstons, Yankees, RedSox of the baseball universe. Not yet.

Wow, 70 sign-ups on the new forum already. Of course that included the one spammer we know about and Jason, the guy listed as Admin.
Probably a troll or two, too.
On the old place we used to go, just the Mariner forum alone was getting 30 to 70 spammer sign-ups EACH day. Really hoping that doesn't happen here.
I dread going to sleep tonight and waking up to a spam invasion when I log on.
