Yep and France can not only play one position but multiple. Worst case he is a damn good DH.Coeurd’Alene J wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 12:36 pmAnd Munoz should be ready about the time we start our run, Jerry just made us better in one great move, I won’t miss Altivilla even for a second, Nola hurts us short term, but the talkathon is on. And I’d much rather watch France struggle at the plate than the dough boy Vogey

I’m wondering if Austin will be in a lineup if SD faces Philly and Aaron Nola, in the future. That would be an interesting event to watch.
Re: Nola traded to the Padres
Divish mentioned something about Torrens starting at the alt. Site.
hmm he had a .873 OPS last season in AAA and the two way below average Joes have completely sucked combining for about a .330 OPS. I bet he is in the lineup tomorrow night.

Maybe someone made this point before, but it seems to me that the deal makes even more sense with this year being shortened for the Mariners and gone for the minor leagues. Pick up 4 talented guys 25 of younger for Nola who maybe is having a career year (although for his sake I hope his just a late bloomer; he turns 31 this winter) and Atavilla, who just has never put it all together the past 2 years. Talent sure, but at the age of 28 you wonder if he'll even achieve that potential.
Re: Nola traded to the Padres
I hope you are right. I'd like to see him given the shot.
Re: Nola traded to the Padres
Yep, it is literally impossible to argue that this was a bad trade for us. btw sounds like the Pads just traded for Clevinger and gave up less for him that they gave up for Nola.gil wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 3:28 pmMaybe someone made this point before, but it seems to me that the deal makes even more sense with this year being shortened for the Mariners and gone for the minor leagues. I like the Trade.
This season is a wash anyhow and probably next year as well.
For once the strategy is to get young AND talented AND consistent at every position.
= which means growing pains for us fans.
Plus I cringed to watch Dan Altavilla pitch...good GAWD.
Your Seattle Mariners....the AAAA team of MLB!
We should be more concerned that the Mariners promote a "Black Lives Matter" banner on their website.

Re: Nola traded to the Padres
Perhaps Taylor Trammell will be a lefthand-hitting Kyle Lewis.
Trammell and Lewis, outfielders who grew up less than an hour apart in Georgia. were both taken in the first round of the 2016 draft, Trammell out of high school and Lewis out of college. Trammell was taken one slot ahead of righthander Jordan Sheffield, older brother of Seattle lefthander Justus Sheffield.

An encouraging FanGraphs analysis of Seattle's acquired players:
