Wow! So they have told him they aren't picking up the option.
Plus Goldsmith on the broadcast last night saying this "may be Seager's last home-stand" as a Mariner. I don't hear the Root people do a lot of that sort of talk, so it stood out to me.

And yeah I know some of you here think it's great that he's leaving. I don't think it's great, I like him.
I hate to see him go, especially if the guy they sign to replace him in the lineup doesn't perform well here.

I don't think they will move on from many of these guys, which makes Seagers the only spot they're going to fill offensively, imo. They have to make it count.

I can see versatile guys that may fit their rotating position thing, guys like Bryant or Semien that can play a few different positions would fit in well.

They actually owe White money. These guys are so cheap they turned Dee Gordon into a clubhouse legend so they could justify keeping him and not having to pay his replacement also.

They will point to the success that giving Kelenic all of those at bats is finally having as evidence that all White needs is his full year in the lineup.
 So sad and true!

Or not. ;)

I'm not so much worried about who replaces Seager at 3B. I'm more concerned about who will replace his 35 HR 100 RBI production at the plate.

Well, according to fangraphs it wouldn't be Seager.... His WAR projections fall from 2.5 WAR this year to 1.5 WAR in 2022 and 1.0 WAR in 2023. As far as replacing or improving on his 159 strikeouts thus far this year, his 2 stolen bases in three tries, his .286 OBP, and his .212 BA.... well, I think we can improve on that.

Let's hope so. I'm also wondering if the M's don't make a move for a big time pitcher dangling Haniger and a +prospect(Williamson) for someone like Marquez, or a hitter like Ramirez?

Williamson is very promising but I would definitely do something like that for Ramirez and we could use a veteran strongman on the mound. Lengthening the lineup and adding pitchcount wreckers would be great. This team is already forcing up pitch counts.... not as well as the A's or the Yankees, but it's a part of their makeup now.

Yes I think JRam's 36 HRs and 100 RBIs with an OPS that is 172 points higher would be a very acceptable replacement.

He seems like a perfect fit, wonder what it will take.

Might be a win for both sides on a Marte/Kirby/Hancock for Ramirez/Bieber deal.

Or, focus on Ramirez if theyre not parting with Bieber yet of course

Bieber isn't an FA until 2025 so that would be really surprising but what a blockbuster. I think Hancock and Marte and Toro would do it for JRam. Make it so.

Probably would need to include JRod to get both. Not interested in that.
