More trades will be made. Dylan Moore and Sam Haggerty likely to be dealt is how I read it.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 2:23 amGreat 1st step. We are now a worse team than we were this morning.tehmc wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 12:44 amMariners to acquire Luis Urias from Boston

How many fking utilities does one team need?
Haggerty, Moore, Rojas, and Urias should not be on the same team.

Am I the only one who considers it losing when we don't make the playoffs?
The only thing 88 wins represents to me is that they weren't good enough to make it.

Oh there's plenty of people who are pretty mesmerized by 88 wins that came off the back of a lucky ass 1.5 months.
If I have to read one more moron on Twitter say, "we're just a couple of mid-tier bats short of the World Series!!!" I'm gonna lose my fkn lunch.
Randy Arozarena and Jake Cronenworth are really gonna turn this thing around... ffs.

So a home run would be signing ohtani, Bellinger, Snell, trading for Soto? Anything else?
Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League thread!
Zero reason they can't do one of those things or sign Yamamoto and trade for one of the Reds or Cards OFers but they will do none of those four OR sign Yamamoto.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 11:54 amSo a home run would be signing ohtani, Bellinger, Snell, trading for Soto? Anything else?

Yeah,Yamamoto I guess would be a home run. It was brought up earlier it needed to be a home run. Curious what that constituted. I think more in terms of adding war. I'm not even sure ohtani be the best way to go about it.
Seems Yamamoto is going to get very expensive, mostly because of the age I guess. Nine years 225 mil, a lot for a guy that's never pitched in the majors

Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League thread!
Ohtani will not be worth his contract in terms of on field production......especially in year one when he won't pitch. If he never pitches again he won't be remotely worth it in any season. He could be worth it in terms of revenue generation but I don't give a rats ass about that. I am actually fine with them being out on him IF they reallocate for funds to land multiple High Impact players....something I am obviously skeptical of.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 12:37 pmYeah,Yamamoto I guess would be a home run. What they need to do is sign two impact pitchers.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 11:54 amSo a home run would be signing ohtani, Bellinger, Snell, trading for Soto? Anything else?
It doesn't even have to be $300M players.
Adding Blake Snell + Yamamoto would clear the way to trade Gilbert+Woo for Juan Soto+Yandy Diaz.
That's four impact moves and doesn't tie up any long term dollars in bats.
Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League thread!
He has never pitched in the majors but there is now significant precedent of Japanese players having success. Overall there is far more talent in MLB but their best seems to be as good as our best as evidenced by their win in the WBC. And his stats in Japan are so insane he is as close to a lock to be a TOR imaginable so that it is well worth the risk.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 12:37 pmYeah,Yamamoto I guess would be a home run. Could even trade Castillo for Soto and keep Gilbert keeping their precise payroll budget from making them have a panic attack.bpj wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 12:42 pmWhat they need to do is sign two impact pitchers.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 11:54 amSo a home run would be signing ohtani, Bellinger, Snell, trading for Soto?
