btw time to move sheff back to t town and Gilbert up to AA.
The way AAA ERA's have been so erratic I won't be surprised if they start bringing pitchers straight up from AA.

His average is coming up, which is nice. I did read from "mariners Minors" that he has hit at least 3-4 that would have been HR anywhere other than in Arkansas park. Still not enough though. He should be at about a dozen HR by now. Hopefully a light clicks and he starts showing this power that he is supposed to have. Still needs to cut down on the strikouts though.

So, Nabil Crismatt is doing everything in his power to be called up to Tacoma. I guess having the best ERA in the league wasn't enough, right now he is through 6 ip with 11 K, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB. Only 61 pitches, so he has a chance at 15+ K today.

Anyone know much about him? Seems M's signed him as a minor league free agent. Was he one of the "gas camp" guys? What kind of stuff does he have? Guy has dominated the Texas league though.

Ends with 14 K. 2 H, 0 BB, 0 ER. 95 pitches...

Crismatt isn’t an overpowering guy and relies more on moxie and guile. His fastball is only fringe-to-average, sitting in the high-80s-to-low-90s. The pitch has a bit of natural sink and run, so he gets solid ground ball rates and is able to induce weak contact and limit home runs. His primary weapon is an above-average changeup, a pitch that sits around 80 MPH with slight, sudden fade. He complements it with a slider that almost acts like a cutter due to its late break and a loopy, 12-6 curveball in the high-60s. He mixes all of his secondary pitches and is comfortable throwing each of them in any count. Without a blazing fastball and possessing only one above-average secondary pitch, Crismatt has not only survived but thrived thanks to the above-average control and command that he has exhibited his entire professional career.
While he’s armed with a five-pitch arsenal, Crimsatt’s most impressive offerings are his low-90s fastball and changeup. It’s fairly uncommon for a pitcher his age to have developed a plus offspeed pitch at this point in their development. Crismatt has.

He’s confident and fearless enough to attack the strike zone relentlessly, something that plays into his ability to limit walks.

Crismatt is also unafraid of ‘pitching backward,’ starting batters off with the changeup instead of a fastball in an attempt to mess with their timing on his heater.

That offspeed pitch, by the way, is nasty.Crismatt will never be a flame-thrower, but his advanced approach on the mound and deep arsenal is more than enough to keep batters guessing as he moves through the minors.

When’s He Going to Be Ready? What’s His Ceiling?
Don’t look for Crismatt to be among the players the Mets call up when rosters expand in September. He’s still at least a year-and-a-half, perhaps even two years away from potentially making an impact in the majors.

But he’s progressing exactly how you’d hope a young pitcher would. With roughly two months left in St. Lucie’s season, he’s a lock to crack the 100-inning mark for the first time.

A promotion to Double-A Binghamton, where he made one start last season (fanning seven over six innings of one-run ball) is certainly possible, if not likely.

Crismatt isn’t a future ace. But he’s got all the makings of a solid No. 2 or No. 3 starter, someone who can keep the opposition at bay while eating innings and saving a team’s bullpen.
