With Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson getting $10M and $11M it sets a realistic trade market for Marco. Doesn't seem like they'd have to eat much of the contract at this point.
FanGraphs projects Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson with 2024 WAR of 2.3 and 2.1, respectively, in 31 starts apiece while projecting Marco Gonzales with a 2024 WAR 0.4 in 36 appearances, including 19 starts:

https://www.fangraphs.com/players/kyle- ... position=P
https://www.fangraphs.com/players/marco ... position=P
Seems high for the first two new Cardinals but very close to my 0.0 Estimate for Marco.

That is exactly my fear that we trade Miller or Woo for Hays or Santander who put up 2.5 and 3.0 WAR and replace them with Marco. Both those guys probably get 100 points shaved off their OPS by T Mobile.

So we go from 2.0 WAR Teo to either a 2.5 WAR or 3 WAR guy adding 0.5-1.0 WAR

And we go from about a 3.0 WAR starter to a 0.5 WAR starter in Marco subtracting 2.5 WAR

Brilliant. :|

What ESPN thinks the M's should do:

Seattle Mariners acquire OF Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres for RHP Bryan Woo, OF Cade Marlowe, RHP Prelander Berroa and C Harry Ford ... and sign LHP Blake Snell (6 years, $150 million)

This would be an insane deal for 1 year of Soto. M's would never include both Woo and Ford. I also don't think they'd give Snell this contract. If he wants to come here 4/$100 million maybe.

Just remove Marlowe and Woo and it is equal. I would trade Ford for a year of Soto in a heartbeat.

Vogelbach over Stanton

“I’m just saying, he’s a lefty bat, former All-Star, has a higher WAR, higher batting average. ... Vogelbach would be an upgrade. I think he’d look good in pinstripes,” Licata said on WFAN, according to Audacy.

“Tell me right now you’d rather have Giancarlo Stanton than Daniel Vogelbach ... Stanton can’t play. He cannot run the bases and he’s always hurt. At least Vogelbach can post.”

Stanton is a huge disappointment.

An absolute physical specimen.

But is chronically hurt and can't even keep up with a 270 pound meatball.

Didn't Vogelbach just get non-tendered?
