I know one of those teams was the Blue Jays. I'm not sure how I feel entirely about Cody. Put up the same WAR as Michael Brantley last year.

Yeah scary fall off a cliff but man if he can find anything close to that 2019 form. Epic steal.

What free agent contracts, in terms of years and dollars, can Cody Bellinger, Joey Gallo and Michael Conforto expect as lefthand-hitting outfielders shy of their 30th birthdays coming off down seasons?

Maybe having Iwakuma on board - he, together with Ichiro - can help us secure one or both of the big name Japanese players this off-season.

Probably similar. Bellinger is the youngest and has put up a 1.000+ OPS season. Conforto's 2021 was down but not as bad as Gallo and CB's 2022.

I think it's unlikely. I think acquiring a player with one or two years left of control is actually a strategic advantage and I suspect the front office feels the same way. To extend Teoscar would likely mean at least an additional 5 year commitment, through his age 35 season, which would be fine actually, but there's also an advantage in having that payroll liability drop off, giving you the flexibility of spending those dollars somewhere else. In my view, even if Teoscar goes off and has an MVP-caliber season, and then leaves as a free agent, the Mariners still came out ahead because they got that season at a relatively low AAV, probably got themselves an extra draft pick via the QO, and have the advantage his 10-12 million dropping off the books.Optimistic Ms Fan wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 6:23 pmHaven't seen this talked about much but how does everyone feel about the possibility of extending Teoscar? What kind of contract are we talking and/or happy with? How likely is it?

I think at least 3 and max of 4.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 9:31 pmI think it's unlikely. Don't think the timing of Iwakuma announcement is coincidental. Senga's got to like coming to the organization that Ichiro starred for. Sign Senga, trade Flexen and Marco, trade Hancock for Acuna and sign Haniger to 1 yr prove it and Trea Turner to 8-year deal with opt out after 3Big_Maple wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 8:57 pmhttps://www.lookoutlanding.com/2022/11/ ... rey-kluber

I like extending Teoscar, no doubt
I don't mind letting him dangle in the wind a little bit, though. Contract season? Let's see if he goes out and drops a career year like Judge just did. Fuck, give me 75 percent of Judge, nice 45 bombs and 120 rbis? 375 opb? 600 slg?
