The point is there is no reason for them not catching the Astros.DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 4:27 pmCatching Houston is somewhat irrelevant. Division Winner 3 and WC1 are basically the same and then just a matter of whether you play Red Sox or Yankees.

Uhh are you aware of this thing called HFA???DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 4:27 pmCatching Houston is somewhat irrelevant. Division Winner 3 and WC1 are basically the same and then just a matter of whether you play Red Sox or Yankees.
We are 40-26 at home and 31-35 on the road. Our Starters are lights out at home and suck on the road. Finally winning the division for the first time since the twin towers were still smoldering seems kind of important as well.

It wasn't that long ago I had dreams of a first round bye. Winning ten of eleven after the trade deadline will do that to you. It's not out of the question, but they can't have another road trip like they just did.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 5:15 pmUhh are you aware of this thing called HFA???DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 4:27 pmCatching Houston is somewhat irrelevant. That's what I'm saying. Division Winner 3 and WC1 both get HFA in the WC round and play on the road in the next round, so no difference.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 5:15 pmUhh are you aware of this thing called HFA???DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 4:27 pmCatching Houston is somewhat irrelevant. At this point it's basically meaningless other than you can hang a banner for winning the division. It only gets you a bye and home field in round 2 if you are one of the top 2 division winners. They gotta catch Detroit or Toronto for the division to really matter.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 4:44 pmThe point is there is no reason for them not catching the Astros.DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 4:27 pmCatching Houston is somewhat irrelevant. It could be one of those situations where you would rather be at home facing the Red Sox as WC than at home facing the Yankees as AL West Champs.

It's low probability and will require Detroit or Toronto to tank. Anything is possible, though, if they heat up. Last two games they scored a bunch of runs, so maybe some of that excitement is brewing up again.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 5:47 pm

its not meaningless in terms of how well they are playing. the reason for them not to catch the astros is they are not playing well.DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 10:17 pmAt this point it's basically meaningless other than you can hang a banner for winning the division.
