How long until the M's make the playoffs?

I say another 5+ year drought, easily
Definitely not making it next year and 2021 will be a stretch but I could see it happening in 2022. Only three years away!!! :)

C Narvaez/Raleigh
1B FA Freddie Freeman
2B Long
SS Crawford
3B Trade Matt Chapman
LF JRod
CF Kelenic
RF Haniger
DH Vogey

Gilbert
Dunn
KK
Marco
Sheff
Don't forget "Trade Jacob deGrom". If you're going to go Somebody's Son, I say go all the way!
I think the bench could be Evan White, Shed Long, Fraley and a catcher, maybe Raleigh.
The bullpen will still be a cast of 1000's.

White will need to learn how to hit and play the other positions to get a spot on my bench.

Currently a 23 yo 1B with a .324 SLG% in AA. Puke!

I can see making a good offer to Freeman if he decides he wants to leave Atlanta (although he probably won't), but to get Chapman we'd have to give up something and the As will want one of our top youngsters...if the As are even willing to trade him to us.

You mean like one of these amazing youngsters that Beane took for Donaldson after a 7.5 WAR season with 3 years of control left?
November 28, 2014: Traded by the Oakland Athletics to the Toronto Blue Jays for Franklin Barreto, Kendall Graveman, Brett Lawrie and Sean Nolin.

Yeah, still holding out hope for the lad. Certainly not there yet. He's supposed to be an OFer, too but hasn't played there yet.

Since draft day I have and have had zero hope for White at 1B, because aside from his defense he's not a first baseman.

It would be like saying Brendan Ryan could be a 1B because he had great defense there.

I've always used the Kotchman comparison but I'm not sure White even hits as well as Kotchman.

Maybe Edgar can spend a few weeks one on one with White and beat some ability into him.

We gave Edgar a shot with this team already and we saw how that turned out.

Was Edgar the Rodney Dangerfield of batting coaches?
Great guy, HOFer. Maybe he just wasn't an effective coach. Not all great players can coach others.
