Encarcion to yanks
Re: Encarcion to yanks
Here's how the deal went down
Cashman- "We'll give you 2 lower prospects for EE.
Dipoto- "No, we're looking for top prospects"
Cashman- scoures the internet for their top prospect lists and finds a guy that is at the bottom of a "top prospect" list.
Dipoto thinks - we got him in the hook.
Cashman- "OK, we'll give one then"
Dipoto- "great sounds like a deal"
Cashman- "perfect my assistant already called it in"
Dipoto- "wait we haven't decided which prospect yet"
Cashman-"We said we'd give you Juan Then"
Dipoto- "mother f...."

Isaiah Campbell looked great Saturday at the College World Series in a no-decision as the Razorbacks suffered a 1-0 loss:The Astroknott wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 2:36 pmWhen we traded Santana for EE we added the 77th pick in this years draft
▪ RHP Isaiah Campbell, Arkansas (CBB, 76): With the CBB pick they gained — along with Edwin Encarnacion — from the Indians this season in exchange for Carlos Santana, the Mariners picked up the 21-year-old power pitcher. Campbell posted an 11-1 record and 2.27 ERA in 16 starts with Arkansas this season, and struck out 108 while walking 19 in 103 innings. His fastball can reach the mid-to-upper 90s, and his slider and splitter are his best secondary offerings.
Hunter: “Isaiah Campbell another one with a really good track record in the SEC. More strikeouts than anything, tons of strikes. Another big, physical right-handed pitcher that we really see could be an innings-eater at the next level.”

Another good point, Campbell is another very interesting piece.
The article that Gorgon posted also made an interesting point about Mallex Smith.
Another guy Dipoto traded away and reacquired. Wade LeBlanc comes to mind.
He now has a pretty solid history of going back after the guys he thinks he may have made a mistake on.

Anyone who is still “down” with 2021 is as Delusional as Jerry D.
About this latest fleecing, how many young pitchers has the able GM acquired, how many have been successful?
Remember Leonys Martin? He was to be The Answer in CF. Then, what, after a year or so, Gone. Dyson? Gone.
He trades for say, 3 first basemen in the same year, Valencia, Alonso, et al.
Needs to up his Ritalin.
With this “organization,” nothing succeeds like failure.
At some point in order to keep a positive attitude...you need to let the old mistakes in your life go. I see no..nada..none reason why Leone’s or Valencia or any historical trade,FA or insert name here...has any bearing on this reimagination......It is obvious this FO has made some really inexcusable mistakes throughout our history......To finally realize after 20 yrs that a reset is needed is a giant leap in the right direction in my book

This sounds more like a Big Ugly John Stanton move rather than strictly Dipoto. The club is bleeding red ink this year and it will get worse. Attendance is down. TV viewership is down which translates into lower ad revenue for ROT Sports. As a fan the $7mil savings or whatever is immaterial, but for BUJS and his sociopathic co-owners this is cutting their losses significantly. Waiting another month+ to get a marginally better return for EE was less appealing than starting to save money today. That's all.

He does seem to swing around and pickup the chaf that he discarded. Too funny, I never really thought about that angle. Jack always kept doubling down on Kendrys Morales even when it became clear he didn’t want to be here. Re: Encarcion to yanks
This on the trade
Before Edwin Encarnacion was dealt to the Yankees last night, the Rays were also in talks with the Mariners about the slugger, ESPN.com’s Buster Olney reports (Twitter link). As is so often the case for Tampa Bay, however, payroll was a factor, as the “Yankees were in better position to absorb” a larger portion of Encarnacion’s contract. Ironically, the Rays are already paying a chunk of Encarnacion’s $20MM salary for the 2019 season — as per the terms of the Rays/Mariners/Indians three-team deal in December, Tampa is covering $5MM of the money owed to Encarnacion.
Taking on more salary apparently wasn’t feasible for the Rays, especially given that Seattle is trying to cut as much payroll as possible. While checking in on a player of Encarnacion’s caliber, or checking with a rebuilding team like the Mariners, is just good due diligence for any team, the Rays’ interest could hint at the team’s intentions heading towards the trade deadline.
