Official Hot Stove League Thread
Re: Official Hot Stove League Thread
Hmm.. I am trying to remember if there was a tampering complaint recently in the MLB but the more I think about it, I think the ones I remember are from the NBA.
I'd be disappointed with Canha. He's too hot and cold. We should be setting our sights high until the top of the market chooses to sign elsewhere (if they do) then move down the list.
Corey Seager is at the top of my list.
Next is Carlos Correa.
Marcus Semien
Nick Castellanos
Kris Bryant

Chana is not sexy but for what its worth, He has an .841 career OPS at T-mobile Park. He is an upgrade over Torrens at DH and can fill an a corner outfield position adequately when Lewis gets hurt and or Kelenic gets sent back down to Tacoma. I'd be fine with adding him as long as we make a bigger splash at 3b/2b

Sure but another RH bat. Conforto is younger, higher upside and can fill in LF. Prob about the same cost.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 04, 2021 4:47 pmChana is not sexy but for what its worth, He has an .841 career OPS at T-mobile Park. Have you not been following the K. Seager/JD feud?Vogelbomb wrote: ↑Thu Nov 04, 2021 4:36 pmHmm.. I am trying to remember if there was a tampering complaint recently in the MLB but the more I think about it, I think the ones I remember are from the NBA.

Kelenic is going back to Tacoma now?
Look, we don't need to worry about the corner OF spots. IF the M's are going to add any OF help, it needs to be with someone who is a legit CF, someone that is an upgrade over Lewis even at Lewis' best. Lewis is a pretty solid CF, the best we have on the roster, no question about it. It'd be nice though, to get some insurance there given Lewis is unlikely to return to the level that he was. Knee issues suck. If Lewis can be 95 percent of what he was in 2020 defensively moving forward, I would take that for as long as that lasts.
I hope any Canha talk if it's happening is just, "we like you, we have interest, keep us in mind as this offseason unfolds"

Yep, this right here. Canha is a decent player, but for whatever team he ends up with he's a late season sign for a one-year deal, and probably not for huge dollars. Not a bad pickup, but doesn't move the needle much.
Re: Official Hot Stove League Thread
I really don't have any insight into whether it's legit and how legit it is. Feuds can be big or they can be wiped away with a long-term contract offer when you're not getting much interest. Is it too serious for even that?
But ultimately we're talking about Corey. Corey is his own person and if the M's FO comes out and offers Corey a massive, top-of-the-market contract to come join the Mariners, you don't think he's going to seriously entertain that, if not sign?? And if Corey is going to join the club you just had 11 years with, and you relish the idea of playing with your brother and competing in the playoffs, you're not going to think hard about that chance, even if Dipoto is a douche and says you're not guaranteed an everyday job anymore? When you still have numerous friends on the team? And your brother is going there?

All that’s missing is Rod Serling and that music
