Our magic number is 10 and we are still slight favs for the WC1. If we had just gone .500 so far this trip we would be sitting pretty.

Just too banged up. Pretty bad time to have some key injuries.

Just looking at the 0s in the hits column last night....I know it's one game, but France goes ofer and is now below .270.
Santana's ofer takes him below the Mendoza line.
Winker's ofer now has him just over .215! Wow, what a great get that was for us right? I sure thought it was.
Cal's ofer has him at .203
Frazier's ofer has him at .236. Who'd have thought that .236 would make this off season get look like Ty Cobb compared to Winker!?
Toro always goes ofer, that's why he is at .177
Crawford at .250, so even though he went ofer last night he looks like an All Star!

Oh, and Robbie Ray pitched pretty well, but thanks to the fact that the playoffs will probably be in another country? He will be done pitching before the rest of the team. Bummer of a way to end the season. Fingers crossed we go on another run, but not sure injecting JK into this lineup is the shot in the arm we need.

All that against a Pitcher that after throwing 2 hit shutout ball for seven innings last night still has an ERA of just under 4.50

Just brutal. Ray can pitch in Canada now if needed. The dopes finally dropped the inane restriction because Joe said the Pandemic is over just in time for the mid terms.

The magic number is only 10 if they end up in a 2 way tie with Baltimore.
If it is a 3 way tie with Baltimore and Chicago the tie breaker goes to the team with the best record in games played between all 3 teams. The M's were 2-4 against Chicago and 4-2 against Baltimore. Baltimore was 5-2 against Chicago so in that case the records would be Baltimore 7-6, M's 6-6, Chicago 6-7 and Baltimore would get the 3rd wildcard spot.

So for example if the M's finish 6-8 for an 87-75 record, the Orioles finish 10-4 for an 87-75 record and the White Sox finish 11-2 for a 88-74 record, then technically the M's would have met the "magic number of 10" against the Orioles but still not make the playoffs.

A magic number of 11 gets them everything outright with no possibility of ties. Of course Chicago has very little chance to finish 11-2 or even 10-3. So in reality, as long as the M's don't do something like go 4-10 they will likely clinch when that magic number of 10 against the Orioles is met.

Got it. Makes sense. On deck: Rays vs. Jays and Astros visit Camden Yards...

Boy MLB sure does hate the Mariners. Apparently we're eliminated from the playoffs.

Eliminate the Chisox and we're almost there.
