I have always thought if TT got a legit shot to play, we might have something there. With that being said, if JD does not plan for something else, he is flushing this season as well and we should trade Gilbert and Cal because they will never re-sign here.seattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 3:21 amIf I had to guess out of my ass....
I'd say the Mariners are using Garver strictly as a DH who in a pinch / rare occasion could catch if he had to.
Seby is going to be your backup catcher.
With that said unless we dance with Tampa Bay for Arozarena/Paredes....how about a trade with MN for Max Kepler and Jorge Polanco???
Not flashy but it's better than anything else we have out there in the corner outfield spots and/or second base.
Personally I don't want to see an entire season of Rojas / Caballero combo. OMG!
If we have to watch Taylor Tramell and Cade Marlow it's gonna be a long year 5-9 in the order.
Just spitting ideas out there.

Morosi seems correct at last
“For the moment, the Mariners have remained more focused on the free-agent front,” he said

I am willing to ride with Moore, Rojas and Cabby personally if you look at their war jus fine, spend draft capital and money elsewhereseattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 3:21 amIf I had to guess out of my ass....

Why won't Gilbert re-sign here? He loves this team's management and staff.
Re: Garver 2 for 24 reported
At least there is hope and depth in the OF with Marlowe, Canzone, Trammel and even DeLoach. Moore and Sam can also handle it at times.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 3:08 amSure he's a dh but a dh still can count for depth someplace. I would have guessed Solar who could also play the outfield. But yeah with garvers injury concerns he probably shouldn't see much time behind the plate
We had nothing behind cal but horrible Seby. I think it was a top priority given that BU catchers play so much and we needed a bat for DH.

Seby had a better season with a bat than Barnes for the Dodgers, see how much catching Garver does
Re: Garver 2 for 24 reported
Barnes got 200 PAs and only 1 in the playoffs. Dodgers are a bit more able to absorb a part time black hole than we are. I could see them starting out with Seby just like they did with La Stella and then dump him if he can't manage a 600s OPS...Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 3:47 pmSeby had a better season with a bat than Barnes for the Dodgers, see how much catching Garver does

No way this team wins more than 80 games next year.
Re: Garver 2 for 24 reported
fwiw the Garver addition pushed us to a 39.5 WAR/88 win projection slightly higher than the Rangers:
