JK 10-16, .625.

He’s on pace for 200 hits!

JK went 3 for 4 today with a double and two singles. I suspect this is the beginning of a strong year for him, but it's still quite early so we'll see. I hope it is though.

He was pretty great the first month or so last season too.

Amazing what happens when you take some pressure off and aren’t asking young players to carry the offense… Jake Bradley continues to be a useful 4th OF hitting .350/.800 even after a rough day today

I hope he has a banner season. He’s an asshole, but he’s got talent. Hopefully the trade works out for him.

That said, he’s an emotional wreck, and I think he is likely to regress and stabilize and start striking out - and then he gets into his own head. In our experience, he’s streaky. If this holds true, he’s off to a hot start, but once the pitchers figure him out, he will crash and burn.

But worry not. We have Dom Canzone in left. Dom is worse hitter and even worse defender.

In Spring Training Canzone hit .295 with a 1.052 OPS

JK hit .143 with a .432 OPS

Cazone is now hitting .105/.368

JK is now hitting .625/1.480

Late in ST SS said Canzone was making the best swing decisions of his life. Fair to speculate that he is no long making the best swing decisions of his life as his nearly 50% K rate and ZERO walks suggest.

I seriously doubt the Mariners hitting coaches didn't suggest to Jarred, hey lets try quieting the hands and eliminating the leg kick. I think it takes failure and maturation as a player to realize, "Hey, I'm not performing how I want to, let me trust these coaches."
I think after 2 full seasons of failure with small windows of success showed Jarred he needed to be more open to other ideas. He's only 24 coming into age 25 season. Canzone is 2 yrs older and has less experience. And he can't play defense. Not sure why Dipoto ever took Canzone on. It spelled Jarred's departure right there and that was the stupidest idea of all.
Jarred is a damn good dude who's fiery competitive nature can make him look like an asshole but is just misunderstood. Trading him is going to be right up there with trading Adam Jones and Fredy Peralta as all-time terrible deals
