Ray pitched 5 no hit innings with 8 Ks and now has 0.1 fWAR. That is higher than Urias, France, Garver, Polanco and Haniger who are all negative WAR.

Except Ray has value
We'll see if he ends up being worth what he's paid or not. My guess is not.

The Mariners could get value from the player they could acquire with the $40M they saved dumping Ray also.

Instead, they've pocketed the savings.

France picked up by Reds

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/07/ ... -reds.html

"The Reds announced Monday that they’ve acquired first baseman Ty France and cash from the Mariners in exchange for minor league catcher Andruw Salcedo. Seattle designated France for assignment last week. Cincinnati also placed catcher Austin Wynns on the 10-day injured list due to a lat strain, selected the contract of catcher Eric Yang from Triple-A Louisville and transferred righty Graham Ashcraft to the 60-day IL to open a 40-man spot. Their 40-man roster is now at capacity."

We had to pay for a piece of crap catcher that makes Garver look like Johnny Bench

I am confident they got Cincinnati to take on more than the 750 K of salary that was still owed France by paying part of his salary back. So they sent a bag of balls for the cash.

France entered today with a 118 OPS+ in Redleg land. Today he was 0/1 with a BB. It is so obvious what the problem is. It is not SS, or JD assembling a trashy team. It is T-mobile trash arena wrecking hitters(period).

Agreed. Change the dimensions. Drastically!!! Even the foul line width. Whether it's smaller or bigger, I do not care.

The park didn't bother Boone or Olerud or Ichiro or Nelson Cruz, etc... they had some of their best years here. We just need to find intelligent hitters who make use of the ballpark they got. We keep finding delicate flowers who need the right environment to thrive instead of figuring out how to do it and do it well.
