"I want to thank Edgar for agreeing to join us for the remainder of the season," Wilson said in a statement. "I'm confident his deep knowledge of hitting and experience with our hitters will be a great addition."
"When Dan reached out to me, I told him that I'd be happy to assist him this season in whatever way I could," Martinez said. "I know the talent and work ethic this group of hitters has, and I hope I can be of help to them."

Typical mariners class
“I was surprised that it came out that Scott Servais learned this from essentially our reporting, and that was uncomfortable for me,” Rosenthal said Friday during an appearance on the “Foul Territory” podcast. “It was awkward. I was not happy about it

Donn mentioned the other day that the Mariners have the most IP by their starting pitchers in MLB.
Do you guys think the low scoring games led Servais to leave Gilbert and Kirby in the game too long trying to chase the W?
We like to complain about these pitchers not going deep enough, but if we had a 5-2 lead it wouldn't really ever matter to us if they pulled Gilbert and Kirby in the 6th.

If we ever had 5-2 leads SS would still have a job. He was a victim of some of the worst offense in the history of baseball.
Then jackasses like Julio come out after his ridiculously weak ass season cost someone else a job and says *we are just employees". What a punk. What little respect I had for that joker is gone. You and the rest of the losers around you cost him his job, and that's the best response you have?

No, Servais lost his job because there were too many games that were lost because of his ineptness. The Angels game just before the all star break comes quickly to mind but there were so many others. His ineptness was exacerbated by the bad offense.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 4:35 amIf we ever had 5-2 leads SS would still have a job. Re: Servais Fired to be replaced by Dan Wilson
So, you honestly believe if all these guys actually lived up to their salary, specifically guys like Julio....if the offense wasn't complete and total dogshit, that Servais still loses his job?
They couldn't fire the entire pathetic offense, so they fired the manager. He may have deserved to be fired, but for a punk like Julio to be performing grossly under expectations, and then make that tone deaf statement? What a dickhead.
Guy just lost his job so you can make a few million per HR, stink up the joint and laugh every night about it. Bad look.

If Mariners offense was league average, Servais would still be here, because we'd have a good lead in the AL West.

Of course that's true. It blows me away that would come as a surprise to anyone. Now, maybe Servais wasn't the right man to get the most out of these guys, but for a jackass like Julio to make that statement? The dude went from being an MVP candidate to being a guy that would have been a fourth OFer on any Mariner team in the late 90s or beginning of 2000s.
Can you imagine if Griffey was putting up Julio like stats, our entire offense went to shit in 1996, Pinella got fired and Griffey made a fucking "I just work here" statement after!?
One of the best things I ever heard Mark Schlereth say was after Russ shit the bed in year one in Denver. Not only did he play like shit, but he acted even more toolbagish than he did here. Mark is on with KIRO, I believe it was brock and Salk, and he says that he hopes that Russ understands that the way he acted and played cost people their jobs! Julio just works here bro. What a fuck.
This team is just so damn hard to root for. I wonder if I could save money by cancelling Root? It's not like I watch. Hard enough to watch dudes that pretend like hitting is impossible, then I got to watch and listen to clowns like Julio.

Julio sounds like DiPoto's went dream in terms of what a player should be. Just a mindless drone.

Re: Servais Fired to be replaced by Dan Wilson
The offense has been horrid AND SS isn't a good manager. So maybe it is a blessing in disguise that the offense was horrid because it got rid of him.
His mindless monkey brained handed obsession without even bothering to look at splits stats.
His bullpen management.
His decision not to walk Devers before his walk off hit.
His that's baseball, slow play, its a long season BS.
No fire.
But when I lost complete respect for him was when we had were up 2-0 in a 3 game series and before the game he proclaimed "its tough to sweep a team on the road". He then punted with a AAA lineup and then after the game proudly told the media that I told you so, its tough to sweep a team on the road.
