And Garver wasn't a catcher. Garver's positional adjustment was -5 last season and Walker's was -6.

You've lost me, in 2023 garver dhed twice as often as he caught. Last season Walker didn't have a single at bat as a dh.

You are like a TV remote. You are easy to lose. lolDonn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 4:21 pmYou've lost me, in 2023 garver dhed twice as often as he caught. Last season Walker didn't have a single at bat as a dh.
Positional adjustment for a DH is -17.5 and -12.5 for a 1B. By far the least valuable position on the field.
Garver had 2.1 WAR in only 87 games in 2023. Walker had 2.6 WAR in 130 game. They are basically the same guy other than one can play a very valuable position.

Re: Breaking: Castillo on the Block
You can say first base isn't a valuable position but that doesn't make him a dh
A RH 1B DH...he's not a dhSo now that are target a 34 yo RH 1B DH that had a .803 OPS. Can't make it up.
Re: Breaking: Castillo on the Block
He didn't DH last season but I think he could do it. Don't you. Any that has the bat to play 1B can be a DH. Hell Jerry thinks light hitting CF or 2B can be a DH.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 4:36 pmYou can say first base isn't a valuable position but that doesn't make him a dhA RH 1B DH...he's not a dhSo now that are target a 34 yo RH 1B DH that had a .803 OPS. Walker would have been a good move a few years ago.
Not sure why they love these past their prime geezers so much..

Exactly. People act like he is an ALL Star caliber hitter. He isn't, he just seems good because he is better than most of our shit show lineup. He isn't even close to as good as Garver was in 2023 and he is one year older than him, 2 years older than Haniger was last season and FOUR years older than Polanco as last season with an OPS only 14 points higher.

And why are they chasing right handed bats to play in T-Mobile?D-train wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 10:10 pmExactly. People act like he is an ALL Star caliber hitter. Re: Breaking: Castillo on the Block
No idea. LHPs are Joc's cryptonite but Garver had a .763 OPS even during his terrible season. .858 career. That would be good DH platoon with Garver also catching about a half dozen times a month.bpj wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 10:16 pmAnd why are they chasing right handed bats to play in T-Mobile?D-train wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 10:10 pmExactly.
