I seen that, and he is one of the guys I would normally call a top-100-adjacent as the biggest $ amount in this years IFA class. And he turned 17 back in May so he is not that young. I will call the TX "watchful waiting".

Unless there's some sort of explanation, like an injury, signing this kid is one of the greatest misses ever. To be fair, organizations make these commitments early, sometimes when kids are 13, though I think that's probably an extreme. But certainly the top potentials get verbal agreements at 14 and 15. I think Celesten was 14. So maybe, with Joseph, he showed more potential when he was younger but that just didn't carry over when the pitchers got a little bit older and with a little bit better stuff. I don't know. It seems like a real miss though.

I was never high on him to begin with. Don't know why they paid him so much. He's still young enough to figure it out though. But I'm not holding my breath.

Montes after a horrid July with the Sox is up to .284/.850!

Will have to see how Arroyo does at Ark but yes he seems far more impressive than Young at this point.

I’m just impressed with arroyos power for a 19 year old that is 5’8. He’s hit everywhere. Wonder if his defense translates to 3B.

You know what else? Griffey had 17 games in AA at age 18 and Age 19 he had his Rookie year in MLB He had 552 PA's from A-. A, and AA in ages 17 and 18 and then MLB. Now, he was raised around the game. #1,#1 and all that, and he did have CF defense, and speed was a big part when he was young but.

If Lazaro is who we think he is we may see him in 2025. If he had moved 5 weeks faster I might (if I was GM)
Had him moved to AA. But now, He at least has to start in AA, right?

Julio had 46 games at AA at age 19 and went full time MLB at age 20. In 962 PAs Julio put up a .955 OPS in MILB. And over a 1.00 OPS in his last year in A+ & AA.

Laz has put up 1045 PA's of .949 OPS in the minors.

I believe Laz is close but not in a position to break camp with the team unless he freaking Dazzles in the last two weeks and in off-season stuff (AFL), and ST. But, the new CBA is a catch-22 in this respect. If they look at Laz who is not ready for MLB right now and say: "If he crushes the rest of the way in A+, and puts up crazy stats in the AFL, AND crushes it in workouts in the off-season, and then crushes in ST evaluations. We break camp with him being that Griffey-Arod-Julio and now Laz super-uber-duper prospect. or do they see a really good prospect which might win them an:

Additional 1st Rd. pick, and decide 2025 is just a little too fast and Laz would probably have the best shot at an extra 1st Rd. pick if they slow played him and preserved rookie status for 2026.

He might be playing 2B more than SS this year because Colt Emerson is also at Everett

While that’s true, he played 32 games in Everett before Emerson was called up. Emerson also missed a bunch of time in the beginning of the season in Modesto while they were both there

Interestingly the positional adjustment is the same for 3B and 2B. I suppose since 3B you need a strong arm and 2B you need more range. We need both so doesn't matter.

Yes Laz missed a week because the Canadian government are idiots. 542 PAs is a good amount but I wouldn't mind not having to wait until Spring to follow him again.
