They are locked in on salary and don't want to spend any more than that. If we're lucky, the team will get lucky and finish just out of the playoffs for another year. That seems to satisfy the owners and management. We're stuck with it. The Giants, at least, can put together a good team every few years. Transferring allegiance to them may be an alternative. At least I'm not stuck with a team that isn't going to try.

I wish it was that easy to become a fan of another team.

I've tried watching a few others, but in the end I don't care.

I just want the Mariners to stop being idiots. We've all pointed out exactly what their problems have been for four years in a row now.

Dipoto has no idea how to put a contender on the field. He's whiffed at every opportunity, from Nori Aoki and Wade Miley to Mitch Garver and Jorge Polanco.

We are all used to the absolute bullshit that is Jerry Dipoto and Seattle ownership.
But I just read that the Detroit Tigers have signed Yankees Gleyber Torres to a ONE-YEAR $15M DEAL.

My normal offseason hatred has just reached a new level for Jerry.

WTF are they doing?!?!

Not that we were ever in the hunt, but Teoscar Hernandez just signed a 3-year deal with the Dodgers. So he’s off the board.

And we have done what, this offseason????

I wouldn't have wanted Torres, but wow, THAT cheap?

Good to see we didn't spend it all in one place. 🙄 Seriously, it really should be 50-60 million instead of 15-16.

I'd almost be OK trading Castillo to Boston for Casas and Yoshida and the $55 million plus contracts just so the M's did something this offseason so we don't stay with the status quo! I know it isn't much of an improvement and we already are overflowing with OFers, but I look at this as some movement rather than offering last year's warmed up leftovers. I realize this will never happen simply because it would require the M's to expand their payroll!

I'd do the trade if Boston also took Haniger.

Castillo + Haniger for Casas + Yoshida.
