They can't be looking at any of those numbers. Why do they even have an analytics Dept.????Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 3:05 amDylan Moore now has 6 extra base hits off right handed pitching in 84 plate appearances... they sit him against righty starters.

Unbelievable. And it isn't just one guy crunching numbers, is it? I mean, how many people are working in analytics for the Mariners?
I wonder if DOGE is available to have a little look at this.

Wow. We have a plethora of pitching riches!
Our two main arms were injured and the youngins have stepped the F up!!!
Amazing how when everyone does their "roles" the team wins.
Cal and Julio = power
JP = hitting the other way
Williamson = paying his way as a rookie
Now we just have to get Polanco and Randy going again.
I'd love to replace at least one of a Garver / Taveras / Solano at the deadline.

You look at the players teams have been adding, the angels, Red Sox, taveras isn't that bad. Didn't the Angels have a shot at him before the mariners? The mariners paid money for him, doubt he's going anywhere though I guess that depends on what happens when everyone is healthy

I agree on Taveras. He is a good substitute until Raley and Robles return.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 2:48 pmYou look at the players teams have been adding, the angels, Red Sox, taveras isn't that bad. Even if they put him as DH/4th outfielder I'd be O.K. with that too.
Problem is we have too many peeps rotating out of that DH role.
Seems like Polanco lives there now only vs. righties. Yikes.

They paid close to $3 mil for him, that's a pretty aggressive move for them. See he's been even worse since joining them
Re: 5/27 Nationals vs. Mariners GT
No, instead they rely on numbers from a players career, or the last few years, instead of the current reality.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 2:58 pmTheir decisions on to platoon on those kinds of small sample sizesD-train wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 2:14 pmThey can't be looking at any of those numbers. That's how we end up with bums pinch hitting for guys who have a chance to hit the ball.
Their analytics department is ass. Was obvious as soon as they hired the loser Dave Cameron.

You might want to look at his stat sheet, he's ass. OPS of .572, 2/20 BB/K ratio, minus 0.1 WAR. His career arc doesn't look promising either. He's a guy the team wins in spite of, not because of.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 2:48 pmYou look at the players teams have been adding, the angels, Red Sox, taveras isn't that bad. 0.03 Clutch is barely above average. There must be a significant difference between what is considered a "high leverage" situation and what is considered a "clutch" situation. Probably leverage is independent of the overall game situation.
