Ohh...except that really is not a draft that is one person gets their whole team and then the next players get what's left. A draft is where you select one player, next team selects one player, etc. In a snake draft the person picking last in the 1st rd gets 1st pick in the 2nd rd, etc. A regular draft is like MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL draft but those are used when the draft choices are based on where you finished.

It would take FOREVER doing the way you suggest. There is no money on this. Even if there was I would be fine with it. The winners are rewarded vs. punished like in the Pro Sports leagues. All good with this methodology.

Everyone will have 6 players by start of tourney and best 3 of the 6 will count. 6 seems to be the sweet spot where everyone still has 3 for the weekend.

Apart from the idiot foreigner who missed the cut

OK bil, its not a draft.

Its a Tiered Allocation Priority Selection Pool using a Waterfall selection format but that sounds stupid.

Look back at how last year played out - make sure you read the first 5 pages of the second part.
Part 1 (started 2 weeks before the event): viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10149&hilit=us+open+draft+contest
Part 2 (started 1 week before the event): viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10156&hilit=us+open+draft+contest

Wow, it was complicated.

Hence - the "Keep it Simple" strategy.

Its the fastest way that we can get to a position where everyone gets unique players - we can't afford to wait for 2 or 3 days for someone to pick a player then move to the next protagonist otherwise it would take about 3 months to do the draft.

Trust me, it will be alright - I see it as 5 different drafts all running quickly and at the same time. Of course there is an advantage to first picker but look carefully again at the groups, its not as if Xpert is going to get Scheffler, McIlroy, Bryson, Rahm and Schauffele is it?

Do a mock draft if you want to see what squads might look like then come back to us?

Whichever, make sure you still play. The comps are not the same without your name on the leaderboard

Thanks Darren.

Of course, I haven't got the rest of my life to dedicate to Golf contests everyone

I am already another year older than when this debate started. ;)
