Nimmo OPS+ was 130 and Santana's was at 100. Can't believe a sub 700 OPS is now considered average. Guessing it will pop over 700 again in 2023.

Add bonus of signing Nimmo is we can all cheer Let's Go Brandon!

As reported on by MLB.com's Daniel Kramer, the Mariners have checked in on both Andrew Benintendi and Brandon Nimmo, although it remains more likely that an outfield addition would come via trade.

So they would rather give away prospects than spend money.

Is there anything in these rules about not allowing a left fielder to move to shallow right field against a guy like Santana or Gallo?

Teams are more likely to adjust how they do things than stop doing what has worked for them imo.
This could be the death of the 4th OF, in the same way the 3 batter rule ended the LOOGY relievers. You want an IF to play OF, like Moore, who can play LF and in a pinch play the short fielder spot as well

The new rules will obviously cut down on shifting, but for slow guys like Santana that don't hit opposite field much, there will be nothing to stop teams from still employing the shift.

They'll have the SS and 3B to cover the left side, by rule now, so moving a LF (or RF) is the logical next step against pull-hitters with a low chance at an opposite field triple (even if the SS has to chase one down in LF).

This site is starving for baseball. We are posting the same article multiple multiple times days after it came out. What a slog offseason.

It is similar to the lockout days where the molasses was running wild.
