Where in the heck do you get that they traded scrap? Fien was last year's #1 pick and 12th overall which is about where all the draft experts thought he would fall. The Rangers are gambling on Gore, is he the all star that he was in the 1st half of last year or the 2nd half injured bozo who was 1-7 6.75 ERA?
It was a bunch of scrap.
I bet you he finishes with a sub 3.50 ERA in '26.

ESPN columnist David Schoenfield made this bold prediction:
New York Mets trade Brett Baty to the Seattle Mariners for Jurrangelo Cijntje and Matt Brash

The Mariners are likelier to add to the bullpen than to trade away Matt Brash.

That’s seems unlikely maybe another player with Jurrangelo. It would be a good move to get Baty. Let’s see what they offer.harmony wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 2:54 pmESPN columnist David Schoenfield made this bold prediction:

Is Baty worth that kind of package? I tend to think not, but I can't say that I know the player all that well. I don't see the Mariners trading Brash.Coeurd’Alene J wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 4:11 pmThat’s seems unlikely maybe another player with Jurrangelo. It would be a good move to get Baty. It is ironic because he is supposedly a Mariner fan but he thinks Jerry would consider trading his prize trophy Matt Brash???? Baty for JC and Bliss would be a fair trade.harmony wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 2:54 pmESPN columnist David Schoenfield made this bold prediction:

Geno's market must be next to nothing. He cost himself 10s of millions with his performance with us.Coeurd’Alene J wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 4:11 pmThat’s seems unlikely maybe another player with Jurrangelo. JC's value has plummeted since last I looked. Him and Bliss would no longer be enough.

Re: The official Hot Stove League Thread 2025-26 Offseason
My overwhelming (and perhaps unfair) impression of Baty is that he's been a disappointment. He's had one decent season but there's enough there statistically to think he might trend towards being a useful player for the long term. This is where it would be helpful to have a strong scouting organization with people that you trust that can give you a better sense of the intangibles with a given player.
