Sodo takes a look at signing Bauer. Shocked they did but it makes perfect sense given they are now broke and will need another starter if they trade one for a bat(s)

Snells a no brainer…… Bauer would be epic. Sign both

They say they only have $20M to spend. That isn't enough for a Cy Young winner even on a HT discount. I wonder what Bauer would cost. They meltdown by most of the fanbase would be awesome to behold.

Where did they say that?

This says $25M. I have seen $20M as well:
The trade with the Braves and an earlier trade that sent third baseman Eugenio Suarez to the Arizona Diamondbacks removed just over $20 million in projected salary for 2024. Per FanGraphs, the Mariners’ projected payroll for 2024 is $117 million. Logically, the Mariners won’t max out their payroll budget before the season starts. So, they probably have just over $25 million to spend on payroll for this season.

The two things I am going on is Servais' "having to deal with the hand we were dealt" comment and Jerry saying payroll will very likely be higher than 2023. We know what 2023 was and we know where they are now so I take all that info to mean it will be slightly higher than 2023. About $5M higher. That = $25M higher than now.

We need $50 to be competitive we could solve just about every need.

Last weekend who would have predicted that this week Jarred Kelenic would land in Atlanta, Marco Gonzales in Pittsburgh and Evan White in Anaheim?

The unconventional trade was good but the Mariners need to spend the payroll savings wisely.

We can actually do a lot to improved the offense with the Rays or Reds trades that I suggested but we will likely weaken the rotation going from Woo or Miller to Hancock but there isn't enough funds to sign a FA starter. Maybe they could trade prospects for a Backend starter.

I was just about to predict that last week but I got distracted and it slipped my mind. :)

Yes and Yes.

Tyler Glasnow could be a good one to add into a trade for our young starter.

Only one year of control left, but he'd be a positive addition to get us through Ray's injury and Hancock's development.
