The biggest problem for Castillo is vs. lefties. Three years ago, he had one of the best changeups in baseball, which gave him an asymmetric against lefty hitters. Without that pitch, he's got nothing vs. lefties and they just rake him over the coals.

What happened to the pitch? Can he get it back?

It's become a less effective pitch and so he uses it less and less. I don't know what happened. I suspect it has something to do with the Mariners fastball-first pitching philosophy but I could be totally wrong about that.

His slider also sucks this year, so that isn't helping either.
