Interesting... for as good as Pereda has been since Cal went down, Garver might actually have been better

Since Cal went on the IR
Better is relative.

Pereda is being forced into more AB's vs right handed pitching since Cal landed on the IL. Pereda (albeit a small sample size) has been a better hitter vs righties and lefties...but he's just at the disadvantage of having to face righties more which hurts his overall stats compared to Garver.

Garver:

Pereda:

Flip their roles and it's not particularly close...

Pereda has also been the better defender.

I also like the fact that Pereda is controlled and way younger. Not sure why you'd DFA him to be picked up by another team when he's a great backup and can be for years to come.
I am so in for Pereda. Something positive emanates from him. No brainer for intelligent management. Think if the Dodgers or Yankees had a guy like this. They would totally be cultivating him behind Raleigh, where Garver is a dead end.

Antonio Freeman's son is on the World Cup team, Antonio learning about a new sport

"It was almost mesmerizing going to his soccer games and just every other word from all of the kids, was 'Freeman, Freeman, Freeman, Freeman, Freeman,'" Antonio said in a recent interview with ESPN. "And he just had this smile and this happiness on the soccer field. Even though he was good at other sports, that one seemed to come the easiest."
"He's right; my dad didn't know anything about soccer," Alex told ESPN three days before the World Cup opener. "He's just kind of learned as I've gone on, and it's been good to know that he's had an interest in wanting to learn more about the sport as I've gone on."
