We'll see if Stanton and Dipoto are lying.

They're stating adding payroll will not be an issue this deadline.

I also see them doing everything they can to offload Haniger's money... do that and they're really only on the hook for Garver in '25 looking like bad money.
The said they they are ok adding payroll. Didn't say how much and if they would for sure. Stanton recently defended this season's payroll because it is higher than last year's. It is one million higher. I wouldn't trust these MFers with my Bologna sandwich.
I think they're willing to add significant payroll if it makes sense.

Perhaps trading a good chunk of the farm and spending $34 million for 1 year of Juan Soto is not a trade they'd bite on.

But 3 years of Robert for $12.5 million, then 2x years at $20 million? Perhaps the control and manageable money tickles their fancy more.
Yeah I am not arguing the logic of the trade, I am arguing that they don't have logical brains. How can you believe someone who said this would be logical about the benefits for trading for LRob?

Robert 2-3 with 2 BB's today 0 K's.

Now walking at easily his highest walk rate of his career.

He seems like one of the best fits to me.

When a guy comes in and shows them he can hit at T-Mobile, they should take notice.

His price tag is a positive thing imo.

He doesn't provide as much excess value because he's being paid the going rate, so he'll cost less in prospects.

Seems like a great scenario for the team that's been pocketing all the cash they said they'd reinvest since they "took a step back".

I am somebody that is willing to change my mind when presented with new info and this is some good stuff, and happy to join you guys in terms of being in on him but I still would be less surprised if Biden win the 2025 World Chess championship.

I've been meaning bring up, about the focus on control. I actually wouldn't be surprised if dipoto is getting gunshy with that and went rent¬a¬player. They are already saddled with multiple anchors in that regard. He might be getting to the point where he doesn't see it as such a great idea

After 9 straight years where his choices have underperformed, it's probably not a bad idea.

His cheap players have typically performed. It's the guys he's spent millions on that have been the mistakes.

Dipoto can't judge offensive talent.

Much less in a Corner than CF though. IF he stays healthy it would be great...
