Minor League Updates
Re: Minor League Updates
Yeah I would rather not burn service time and just call him up at roster expansion.

I don't know if Santana is going to play OF this season. Keep him at DH and let his elbow heal.bpj wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 5:53 amI'd like to see him come up when it's a Haniger/Fraley/Santana outfield like we should see in 2020.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 5:12 amJake Fraley 3-4 with a HR and was HBP tonight. He needs to just be called up already. I know they will probably just wait until the end of the season when the roster expands, and Tacoma's season is over, but just bring him up now. Give us a little something to watch.

I don't know much about service time, but would it change anything to bring him up now vs 2 weeks from now if he starts 2020 in Seattle? If they think he starts next season in Tacoma, then I can see them waiting, so they don't have to leave him in Tacoma as long, but if they plan on starting him in Seattle, then it won't make a difference.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 6:14 amwouldn't that impact his service time?Juliooooo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 5:12 amJake Fraley 3-4 with a HR and was HBP tonight. well I know less about it...they brought up Arod in 1994 to play in 17 games and it cost them a year of control, but i have no idea how that might apply here

Re: Minor League Updates
took a look...that was his first year of pro ball, i had forgotten, brought him up in July, he was 18, he was the youngest ML SS since 1900, forget how remarkable that was
Re: Minor League Updates
Basically if you have 172 days with the mlb club you get a year off service time. If you 171 it's not considered a full year. You are a free agent after 6 years. If he didn't play at all this year, he would have to stay in Tacoma for 16 days before coming up to save a year of service time. any time with Seattle this year you would have to add to the 16 days next year to save a service year

What makes a difference is if they called him up now then had to send him down before September callups for whatever reason, they'd burn an option.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 12:36 pmI don't know much about service time, but would it change anything to bring him up now vs 2 weeks from now if he starts 2020 in Seattle? Re: Minor League Updates
That would suck, but there would be no need to send him down. He'll get at least 2 weeks (Williamson and Broxton each got over a month to suck), then by that time its expanded rosters and they just don't use him. Tacoma's season is done anyway. Not much risk in that imo. If there is an injury, they can just use the DL, and that won't use an option, but it would stink to use up service time with an early call up and a DL stint.bpj wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 7:59 pmWhat makes a difference is if they called him up now then had to send him down before September callups for whatever reason, they'd burn an option.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 12:36 pmI don't know much about service time, but would it change anything to bring him up now vs 2 weeks from now if he starts 2020 in Seattle?
