At one game out, make a move or two to get better? Hell yeah. But when everyone else makes big moves, and we add Toro and a small down grade at closer? And we go from one game out to five and a half? I’d say we won’t be contending.

They already are a contender, they're just not a playoff team.

I wasn’t aware you could be a contender if you aren’t contending for a playoff spot...but oh well. Semantics.

And yet... we are.

This is what 5 teams for 2 spots looks like.

You are confusing. You say they aren't a playoff team, then show me standings to make it look like they are? Make up your mind, are they or are they not? Are they not 4 games worse than they were at the high water point of the season just a couple of weeks ago?

Again, you keep moving the goal posts. Am I pissed at the organization? Yes. Is it because I think Toro sucks? No. Is it because I think Graveman is the savior of the universe? No. Is it because I think the players quite because they traded Graveman? No. Is it because I think losing Graveman makes them so emotionally frail they can't play? No Is it because of the timing of the trade, while Houston was in town? Some, but not really. Did I miss any of the strawman arguments you, DT and Julio have thrown my way to try and make it look stupid that I am upset? Desbcoach, or what ever the hell his name in? Have I missed any ridiculous reason you decided to make it your purpose to point out I am wrong, about shit I never said? Fine, I probably complained about the timing of the trade, because it again showed how tone deaf to everything this organization is. BUT, it isn't why I am mad, and it isn't why most are mad. It wasn't why John Smoltz and others in the media commented.

I am sick and tired of waiting for this team to be competitive. I remember as a kid we got tickets to Mariners games, and it was because Rickey Henderson and the A's were in town, or a contender with Stars were in town, not because the Mariners were any good. Would I root for them? Sure, but they didn't win very often. I watched Bruce Bochte and Al Cowens, Dave Henderson...too many to list. Guys that weren't any good, but you had to find someone to be your favorite. Not until Alvin Davis was my favorite any good. Darnel Coles blowing on a baseball was pretty much what this team was famous for.

You would go to a game because of the gimmick...free hat day, I remember getting batting gloves, shit like that. One was to get your picture taken with a player. I am a little boy, all fired up that one of the regulars might show up. I got my picture with Rick Honeycutt. A relief pitcher in the 70s. How exciting. Pretty sure he pitched that night, and gave up a dinger.

Why do I bring that up? Because I have been a fan for that long. I suffered through all those years until 1993. It looked like things would turn around the next year. Then, as the Mariners go on a run? They strike. Then, they seem to fall on their face in 1995, and we all know the rest, the magical comeback, coupled with an Angel collapse.

Again, why bring that up? because that drought from when I was a kid in the late 70s until 1995? Which seemed like an eternity? Was a shorter period of missing the playoffs than right now. So, when they go into the trade deadline and are sellers, one game back? Yep, I am pissed off.

Stop with telling me they are better now and later. They are losing now, for one thing. And, most importantly, that trade was made by this organization with zero evidence that Toro would help today. They didn't care about this year. One game back? They didn't care....why try to get into the playoffs when you can gain years of control. Turns out? Toro is a stud....but the idea is what pisses me off. Dipotto himself came out and asked for patience, wait until the rest of the moves. Even HE didn't think the trade would help them this year.

When you have fans that are loyal enough to go through two playoff draughts like this? They deserve better than a FO that decides next year is more important, while one game out of the race. In the past couple of weeks I have listed off too many names to count. Young guys that were too good to trade to help a good team become great. Young kids that the organization and Root Sports force feeds us as the new face of the franchise. Young kids that never hit for more than a small stretch. It is always about the future...but only half assed. Then? They rebuild. But, the rebuild hit too early. You wanna know why? They had a good mix...it happens. Wouldn't be the first time. But, instead of capitalizing on that, they planned for the future.

This team, loaded with young kids, can't hit. I already showed you the two guys most in here want gone, and the percentage of the offense they provide. This organization is force feeding me a future with guys that don't hit and guys that haven't even played yet. You do the same, and then throw in fantasy baseball and the guys you would sign. I am going to have to tell you, in the many years of reading these forums, I have seen a lot of "we should trade for...." or "just sign....". I don't remember very many being accurate. And when they were, they flopped. Next year? Who fucking knows. But, you keep telling me throwing away what we knew is fine...because, this guys will start hitting and this guy will sign and then, poof...playoffs. Maybe, but there is no maybe about it. When he made a trade with BOTH eyes on the future? We were one game out.

I was thinking about the Mental Aspect of sports. CLEARLY there is a mental aspect of sports but I think there is a significant difference is losing confidence in your abilities vs. dealing with outside factors.

For example, I have been going up to the local school and playing a game I invented which is essentially solo 21. Of course they are outdoor hoops so the rims are totally unforgiving. When I first started playing there I couldn't make a shot to save my life because I was used to the nice LA Fitness regulation rims and Glass backboards. I totally lost confidence and it was taking me like 45 minutes to finish three games which usually take me about 7-8 minutes each.

I think that is what JK was dealing with. His failures got in his head and he just completely lost it.

What we are talking about with the M's though isn't ability related to their individual abilities, they were just pissed off at the GM. I just can't see that impacting their play just like having a fight with my wife would have ZERO impact on my basketball shooting %. It might even improve it! :) I guess everyone is different though so I will concede it is possible.

To be clear, I included “ for anything discussed with you and frankly it is your sour attitude on everything lately. AT states good at bats to get a walk and you throw down on the fear to get a hit. Give them some props for doing something, I have went thru the same misery the same amount of time. Favorite quote of mine realizing I am blind Is “the only handicap in life is your attitude” 🤣🤣 have a great day from whatever the hell name he is

At also threw Seager and Mitch under the bus and I defended them. But, as usual, you missed that part.

I said drawing a walk isn't always the "great at bat" that many in here want to make it out to be. And, of course, you took that an ran. What ever...how about you and I no longer communicate? I know my day would go better.

100% true, coached girls FP played on average 90 games a year, multiple Washington state champs and ranked Nationally in 90’s. Attended many sports camps and lead a few in TC. Sport Phycologist were normally there and mental aspect was often talked about. Make it simple many athletes are created equal with exception of mentally and that is why great athletes are by themselves. There of plenty of Trout bodies with his abilities but not his mind and ability to slow it all down.
