I don't see it as a competition, Urias needs to produce at 3rd base, if he doesn't you're not going to get significant production out of Rojas there. Really that's what the lineup turns on seems to me. If you can get Geno level production out of Urias then it looks pretty good
WAR
Rojas
2021 - 1.8
2022 - 2.7
2023 - 1.1
Total - 5.6

Urias
2021 - 2.1
2022 - 2.3
2023 - -0.1
Total - 4.3

Even ignoring 2023 Rojas is slightly better. Only advantage Urias has is age and Rojas is only 29 yo
I was thinking in terms of power, think
Urias has more potential
Yes he does and that is more of a traditional 3B but if its a true platoon Rojas will get a lot more PAs. Guessing the guy that hits the best will end up with the lion's share of PT.

That ~.800 OPS looks a lot better than the .700 guys we have laying around.

I remember big sexy wanted Polanco a year or two ago.

Dipoto's always just a little late to the party.
SS-Crawford
CF-JRod
2B-Polanco
C-Raleigh
DH-Garver
LF-Raley
1B-France
3B-Rojas
RF-Haniger

Looks pretty complete
If they don't move Julio down to 3rd they are idiots but I already know they are so they probably won't.
Honestly, I don't care where they move him 1-3, so long as he's mashing. It'll probably depend on whether the pitcher is a righty or lefty.

Well if you care about us scoring runs we should care. We will almost assuredly score more runs with him hitting 3rd.

btw Jerry has taught his lil buddy well with the "We have been on him for YEARS!!!!" line
“He’s a guy that we have liked and tried to acquire for years,” said Hollander. “I think I personally made more calls on this trade than I ever have on any trade before at the behest of both my own want to add him to our group, so a really big day for us. (I) feel like it makes us a lot better and excited to add him.”

Well they have moved him around a bit but yeah they are idiots so probably keep him in the two hole because they is where he has performed the worst.

Pessimistic attitude, the line up is as good as we end end the season with and better then day 1 we started and wasted 3 months with. IMO good enough to get to -layoffs. Addition by subtraction with Pollock, Lastella, and Wong gone.
It's just as good as last season!

When we didn't make the playoffs.
The OD lineup and Bench is massively objectively better than last season. Perhaps slightly better than it was in the second half when we finished 50-32 almost a 100 win pace.
They've definitely raised the floor, no doubt.

Not sure there's any more upside than there was in previous years, but for a team built around pitching, they definitely have a chance to win 90+ if things go well.

Especially without a succubus on the team!

I agree, they should.

But without any legitimate MOTO hitters on the team, I'd probably have him hitting third.

Raley I don't think belongs above 6th, but they obviously brought him in for a reason so he'll probably get his shot to hit. I'd have him hitting 8th.

Crawford
Polanco
Julio
Raley
Garver
Raleigh
Haniger
France
Urias/Rojas

Definitely a deep lineup

We could debate this until the cows come home. I see many arguments for both sides.

They're viewing last season as an outlier due to the injuries. He hit 39 home runs the previous two seasons
Not talking about Urias. Talking about Rojas.

I don't have a lot of faith in Urias... cool if they do. But I'd prefer if they got a legit bat at the position.

It's just one of those positions that you really want a lot of offense from. Avg wRC+ for 3B's who played at least 100 games last year was 110... there were 2x massive outliers or it woulda been like 120...
What they should do is trade Urias for the best reliever that any team will give up for him and sign Chapman but of course they won't do that so I don't even bother to bring it up.
Yep.
