Cruz is one of those interesting cases where you wonder if he lied about his age to get into MLB earlier. Like if he was a big 15 year old kid they said was 17 to get him signed..
I miss him here, just a great man, ballplayer and personality. But time marches on as does the Jerry turnstile. He's at the age where things were done a bit differently in the international markets in his day. Also, he's a physical specimen, so that could be all it is!

Gilbert won pitcher of the week honors in the Texas League this week... Gilbert, drafted just last season by the Mariners in the first round, 14th overall out of Stetson University. With Arkansas this season he has a 4-2 record and a 2.50 ERA in 7 starts. Total between three affiliates (West Virginia, Modesto, Arkansas) in the Mariners system, his ERA is 1.95 with a 10-5 record in 24 starts. In 124.2 innings Gilbert has notched 154 strikeouts while walking just 30.
