Surprising or not surprising they’re tied for first with the Rangers.
I believe they can dance toe to toe with anybody but they prob should make a couple moves to bolster the offense and pen so they can keep rising. What is Solano’s OPS now like .000001 lol

You guys can howl but the Solano situation isn't that important. I don't think you would find many teams cutting players during a winning streak. The fact that they are winning takes the pressure off. If they had gone 3-7 instead of 7-3 then they could be sweating making changes but as things are going they can wait

Exactly. Where’s the budget for a bat that improves this anemic lineup. Not likely

If Tyler Locklear is 75% of what he is in AAA he's an automatic improvement to this lineup.
If you take WAR and winning as a 1:1... Solano has almost cost you a full game in just 40 plate appearances.
It is incredibly important that you get him out of the lineup. Especially for a team where winning always happens on the fringes. You need to remove as much dead weight as possible.
He is currently the worst player in baseball by a long shot. Give him the same # of AB's as the players with less WAR than him and he's -1.2 to -1.4 fWAR. He is statistically one of the worst qualified hitters in major league history through this point in the season.
He is hurting your baseball team.

This is a ridiculous statement. Right up there with saying Games in April don't matter because it's early. The dude is on pace for a WAR of -4.5. If you projected him out to 500 PA he would be on pace for a -12.5 WAR. If he was contributing defensively in a way that was hard to replace it might be a different story but he is being used as nothing but a platoon first baseman. No reason at all that Locklear can't fill that role seeing how and seeing he is hitting over .300 in Tacoma. He would almost certainly give you more with the bat than 37 year old Solano. That dudes career is over once the Mariners release him he won't play again in the major leagues.

I'm so sick of reading stuff from fans of a team that play a sport with no salary cap worry about salaries. According to this article...the M's are 16th in payroll.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/m ... 751012007/
Do you think a team that generates the kind of income the Mariners do, are really trying to win with a payroll in that range?
They are nearly $100 million away from top five! Where were we when we started the "step back rebuild"? What have they done with all the money they saved on salaries during that glorious run? Bullshit to talk about budgets. It's there, they just don't give a shit.

While I agree with you they should open the budget and honestly they should have signed Bregman and Alonso this off season however the reason fans of a team in a sport with no salary cap worry about salaries is because like it or not every move the team does is going to be based off of salaries and a budget they have in place.

Sorry, my criticism isn't with the fans....I should be more clear. I find it pathetic that Mariner fans have to worry about that. That is of course not the fault of Mariner fans. But if an owner is actually trying? Do they take a step back for as long as we did, save that kind of money while still making money, then go cheap again when the roster needs augmented? No. They don't give a shit, and until it hurts their bottom line? They won't give a shit.

Can they wait? Yes. Should they wait? Why??? Solano is so cooked he is like the marshmellow that the weird kids would let catch fire when roasting them over the camp fire.

Exactly. The only reason they don't do it is the embarrassment of DFAing their 2nd biggest FA addition less than a month into the season and the $600k they will have to pay Locklear. It is insanity.
