random baseball question

On this play, its clear that the runner lowered his shoulder, but if this is a force play at home, would you teach the player to slide, or to run through the base on a close play? Is it reasonable to have him run through the base rather than slide as the catcher doesn't need to tag?

Damn that is brutal. Yes should be just like at 1st base and the catcher has to provide some access to the plate.

OK, a guy is arguing that every single baseball coach would teach you to slide in that situation, and I'm just making sure that I'm not the crazy one.

The runner had time to swerve out of the way, slide or just lightly push the catcher out of the way. The kid needs to be thrown off the team and black-listed from baseball in the entire valley.

Oh, its another website that linked to instagram. Someone asked what the player should do and I said "run through the plate without lowering the shoulder or slide."

Nobody is arguing that. Especially since he was already out he should have just veered of to the right missing the catcher but several feet.

I like that the ump threw him out before he called him out.
