2026 Schedule

Surprised there isn’t a thread about this, but next years schedule has some real crazy things going on.
First of all because of the FIFA World Cup, where the “Seattle Stadium” (as it can’t be referred to as Lumen Field) is hosting Team USAs game on June 19, the Mariners can’t play that day and have to have a double header instead the day after against the Red Sox.
It also looks like another World Cup game is on 1st July so they have scheduled a rest day in the middle of an Angels series.
There’s a 2 game series with Houston right at the end which is unusual. And I have already ruled out the 6 game Florida road trip in July. Way too hot for Brits.
Bloody soccer, eh?

5 of the last 6 series are on the division. This year it’s 2 of the last 10.

Why couldn't they play a day game or night game depending on when the match starts or vice versa. I once when to a scheduled DH when I was a kid and in between the games that brought out some Dairy cows and had a Cow milking contest. Not making this up. Brought in and extra 57 fans from Carnation and Enumclaw paying and average of $3.50 a ticket.

Do the Seahawks ever play on the same day as the Mariners? I thought that was generally just avoided.
FIFA could be multiple matches on the same day, no? Or, maybe just a ton of hoopla before the match.
I'm surprised they couldn't just have the Ms out of town. It does make you wonder how they go about the process. I used to be involved with scheduling movies at a 30 screen theatre. Each movie was a different length, anticipated to draw different attendance, and different demographics day vs night. All of the auditoriums were different sizes. You could spend days trying to perfect it, or you could just slap something together and roll.

If you have strong reading glasses you can see there is only 1 game. Could start it at noon and it would be over by 2 and totally cleared out by 3pm almost 4 hours before the M's game.

I see it. Group Stage but USA Team.
Sounds like they're aiming for more of a late afternoon or evening kickoff with maybe daytime activities and fanfare ahead of the match.

FIFA will contractually have the right to basically do whatever they want with all the cities. They have “full control of what goes on inside and outside the building from 30 days before the first match to seven days after the last”
So definitely no way are they sharing the street with MLB in Seattle for a baseball game on the same day as a football game. Not even if they suggested a 10am start for the Mariners to get it done and out of the way.
The schedule release must have been delayed while FIFA threw their weight around with all the cities hosting games. Absolute bastards they are, but it would be contractually their right to do so,
FIFA contract wrote:FIFA also has the “non-exclusive right to have free and unrestricted access to visit and inspect the stadium” at no cost, at any time.
The stadium shall be provided to FIFA free and clear of any advertising, merchandising and brand recognition and it will not be known as Lumen Field when the tournament kicks off. FIFA has the power to temporarily rename the stadium, to remove any reference to the naming rights sponsor, owner or user of the stadium.
It would not surprise me that FIFA would even object to the T Mobile sign on the baseball stadium as it would be visible on the drone or blimp shots of Lumen. It’s not unreasonable under that contract to have the T Mobile sign obscured from mid May to mid July. Some would say it’s an improvement, well played FIFA.

They are such a controlling governing body that the hatred towards them worldwide far outweighs any feeling the US has towards NFL, MLB and NBA combined.
I guess that the other host cities don’t have a baseball park so close to the soccer stadium, but I don’t know all those cities well enough to say. So the schedules of the other host cities hence the Dodgers, Giants, Red Sox, Yankees etc will not be as affected as the Mariners.
If someone ran their eyes over all schedules I wouldn’t mind betting a few pounds that we are the only team with a scheduled double header in 2026.

WTF I just texted Trump about this BS. Expect a new American Past Time First schedule out tomorrow. They will have to play the WC at 3am which should work well for my Mike!
