The obvious question is “why”? He’s a marquee, cornerstone member of the franchise. I always thought he’d retire a diamondback.
And of course, the next question is “would we want him”?
Depending on the asking price, I’d say “hell yes”. But he’d cost $9MM a year till 2032. But he put up 4.4 WAR last year, hit 28 homers and batted .283
I’d love to have him at the keystone. But I doubt the M’s would pay the cost in terms of contract and prospects.

Sorry I just thought it was funny that one of the best players in baseball's agent would negotiate a long term contract for less than $10M a season.

Does this really seem like the kind of long term commitment the M’s would take on? Really? Till 2031? Parting with 2!top prospects? AYS?
