Yandy Diaz

I think that Yandy is my top target. His bat is exactly what this lineup needs. He is top 10 in active leaders in batting average and OBP and He doesn't strike out a ton (14.9% for his career). He is the perfect complement for the Big Power, Low averge- high strikeout guys that we already have in the lineup. He still has decent Power too and hit .308 against the AL West last season.

As far as position goes. We don't have a real DH at this point. He is right handed so you could still team him up with Raley at that spot. He can give Naylor a break from time to time at 1B and he also can play 3B a bit. He played 102 games there in 2022 and was middle of the pack in defensive metrics. That will allow them a little bit of flexibility if they want to ease Williamson/Emerson in a bit.

Best of all I believe he will cost a ton less in prospects than Marte and probably even quite a bit less than Donovan. The Money and the the contract length are nice too (12 Million this year and a 13 Million vesting option with 500 PA in 2026) so commitment is not long term and you aren't tying up a lot of resources like you would be doing with Marte or any free agents.

Excellent idea, who could disagree?

A .300 hitter.

Can we have both Marte & Diaz. What about another bullpen piece.

Yeah it is really strange we haven't been linked to him. People say we need to keep DH open for Cal but Cal caught 120 games and he could get 20 full games off and that would give Yandy about 150. 140 at DH and 10-12 at 1B. AND he is way healthier than Polo.

Is there any market for Yandy. No rumors, no links, nothing.

There are ongoing rumors suggesting the Tampa Bay Rays might trade veteran slugger Yandy Díaz, with the New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates, and San Diego Padres identified as potential trade fits. However, an MLB insider has placed the odds of a trade happening at only 25%, as the Rays value his production and affordable contract.

I'd love to have Yandy at DH, Polanco at 2B, and Yoan Moncada as Option A at 3B.

That lineup would be as good as almost any imo.

I'm real curious what the price for Yandy would be. When you consider Polanco's health history, Yandy with one year left on his deal might make more sense.

Yikes he has only averaged 73 games a season the past four years. Makes Polanco seem like Ripken Jr.
