Rest of the off season poll

Post by D-train » Thu Jan 29, 2026 2:25 am

P's and Cs report on Feb 10th so we will call that the end of the off season. What will happen between now and then.

Absolutely nothing?

Just Dumpster diving.

Something significant.

I've hardly seen Abrams, but I think SoB liked him also.

Will have to look at his numbers, what do you guys like about him?

If they're not adding a power guy, I'd still love to see them add Luis Arraez to backup 1B/2B/DH. Ideal leadoff hitter, which weve been sorely lacking the last couple years.

There’s very little buzz about Arraez. It seems like his lack of power offsets the fact that he can spray the ball all over the field. Hitting for a high average is not the same as heading for power, and this would be a liability at a park like T-Mobile.

It seems like Arraez could be available for a short term deal for a reasonable money. So I guess there’s that.

I’ve read about Abram and it seems like he has a lot of potential, a little bit of power, and good defensive numbers. But that’s what I remember reading early in the off-season and I’d have to go back and look some stuff up to offer a more informed opinion.

But off the top of my head, I think I take him over Arraez.

Thanks Maple, seems like Abrams would be a nice pick up with Crawfords time running out and Emerson's not really needing to be rushed.

Cole Young had his moments that he looked pretty good.

Ben Williamson could have a sneaky bat like Cal Lite.

Arraez is, in my opinion, the stealth pick of the offseason.

He's Ichiro without the speed, and he's Cal's age.

Looking forward to seeing how he does the next few years.

He put up over 10 WAR in his age 22-24 seasons and we would be buying his prime 25-27 seasons. He has also stole over 100 bases and averaged almost 20 bombs a season as a SS for those 3 seasons. Has been durable and amazingly consistent.

Arraez had a .327 OBP last season which is pretty meh and doesn't steal bases. Not really and ideal leadoff hitter imo and he offers nothing else. A 1 WAR player at this point.

So you prefer a 3 WAR 25 yo to a 1 WAR 29 yo? Me too. ;)

Let's put it this way, if CJ was a FA right now he would probably get a 7 year $200+ M contract. Arraez will be lucky to get 1 year $12M.

Williamson had 1 HR in over a half a season and Cal had 60 HRs so maybe Williamson is Cal EXTRA Lite.

Arraez is Ichiro without Speed and defense. A DH/1B with a .700 OPS and a 2B that can't play D. Ouch.
