I agree with you but Jerry doesn't.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 03, 2026 7:51 pmI don't think Emerson has showed enough in the Minors yet to warrant an opening Day spot at age 20. He's only had 40 games above the A ball level. His .790 OPS in Double A is very good for a 19 year old buts its not like Julio who had an OPS over 1.000 in AA the year before he made the team out of spring training. I think they start with Donovan at third and Young at second and if Young falters maybe we see a June call up for Emerson.
It could be Donovan, I just checked and he's played a significant number of games at a lot of positions in his career. 5 errors in 46 career games at third with a .959 fielding percentage so that isn't so hot and hopefully is a fluke. What's surprising is that he's played about 40% of the time in the outfield. All told, this might be one of those proverbial good problems.

I didn't hear him promising a job there. I heard him say the opportunity is there but he has to knock the door down. I took that to mean if he rakes in Spring training he can win the job. He hit .118 in Spring training last year so I think its going to be a bit uphill battle for him.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Feb 03, 2026 8:38 pmI agree with you but Jerry doesn't.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 03, 2026 7:51 pmI don't think Emerson has showed enough in the Minors yet to warrant an opening Day spot at age 20.
